IIT JAM 2026 Score Calculation

After the score is calculated, the candidates are ranked based on their total marks in each subject. The final rank is based on the total score considering the tie breaking criteria.IIT JAM 2026 exam cutoff marks are determined after the score is calculated and the rank list is prepared.

IIT JAM 2026 Score Calculation Formula

The formula used for the calculation of the IIT JAM score is tabulated below:

Score = (Total Correct Marks) - (Total Incorrect Marks)

  • For Negative Marks: Penalty = Number of Wrong Answers × (-1/3 or -2/3).

Here is an example of the way the IIT JAM 2026 scores are calculated:

Question Type Number of Questions Marks per Question Correct Answers Incorrect Answers Final Score
MCQs 20 1 15 5 15 - (5×1/3) = 14.33
