IIT JAM 2025 question papers and solutions are available for all seven subjects: Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics.

Each paper carried 100 marks across 60 questions. MCQs carried negative marks, while MSQs and numerical answers had no negative marking.

Biotechnology 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Biotechnology (BT)

Biology questions sit alongside chemistry, physics and mathematics. The paper includes molecular biology and restriction-enzyme calculations, as well as a changing-cube surface-area problem.

Chemistry 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Chemistry (CY)

The paper opens with a function-maximum question and a probability problem. Chemistry questions include ore concentration, crystal systems and electrochemical calculations.

Economics 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Economics (EN)

Economic concepts and Indian economic policy appear alongside statistics and mathematics. The paper includes measures of distribution and a determinant-power calculation.

Geology 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Geology (GG)

Minerals, rocks, stratigraphy and fossils appear with geological maps and diagrams. Numerical questions include magnification, radioactive decay, fault geometry and groundwater.

Mathematics 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Mathematics (MA)

Sequences, calculus, linear algebra and abstract algebra feature in the paper. Later questions include finite groups and homomorphisms.

Mathematical Statistics 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Mathematical Statistics (MS)

Sequences and matrices lead into probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing and joint random variables.

The cover has incorrect exam figures. Use 60 questions, 100 marks and three hours for the 2025 paper.

Physics 2025: Question Paper and Solutions

−

Physics (PH)

Vector calculus, mechanics, electricity, optics and decay appear in the paper. Later calculations include crystal spacing and the mean free path of gas molecules.

Scoring Your 2025 Paper

−
Type Correct answer Incorrect answer
1-mark MCQ +1 -1/3
2-mark MCQ +2 -2/3
MSQ +2 for exact correct set 0; no partial credit
NAT +1 or +2 as assigned 0

Unanswered questions score zero. For MSQs, compare the entire chosen set, not just one correct option. For NATs, use the numerical precision and accepted range for that question.

Try Quantitative Practice Questions

Original practice: four questions on limits, variance, matrices and decay, with accuracy and explanations.

Choose your answers, then submit the set.

1. For n = 1, 2, 3, ... let a_n = (5n + 2)/(2n + 3). What is its limit?

Select one answer.

2. X and Y are independent random variables with variances 2 and 3. What is Var(2X - Y)?

Select one answer.

3. A real 2 by 2 matrix A has eigenvalues 2 and 3. Which statements must be true?

Select all correct answers.

4. A radioactive sample has a half-life of 6 hours. What percentage of the initial amount has decayed after 18 hours?

Select one answer.

IIT JAM 2025 Question Paper FAQs

Are Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics the same paper?+

No. MA and MS are separate JAM papers. MA covers mathematics including calculus and algebra; MS combines mathematical foundations with probability and statistical inference.

Use the code printed on the paper, not just the word Mathematics in a download title. A Mathematics paper does not replace MS practice on estimators, distributions and hypothesis tests.

Can an MSQ have only one correct option?+

Yes. The official 2025 pattern allows one or more correct choices. Full credit requires all correct choices and no incorrect choice; selecting an unnecessary second option can turn a correct selection into zero marks.

Do I lose marks for a wrong numerical answer?+

No. NAT questions have no negative marking. A wrong MCQ loses one-third of its assigned marks, while an incorrect or incomplete MSQ earns zero.

How should I review the solutions after a timed attempt?+

Start with the questions you got wrong or left unfinished. Compare the method, assumptions and calculation steps. For MSQs, review every option separately. For numerical answers, check units and rounding before deciding whether the concept needs revision.

Should I enter a decimal or an integer for a NAT?+

Follow the specific question. A NAT can require a signed real number, an integer or a value rounded to stated decimal places. Avoid rounding intermediate results too early, especially when the final answer is obtained by subtracting nearby values.

Does scoring 58 marks in the 2025 paper predict my next JAM rank?+

No. It measures performance on that paper under your attempt conditions. Rank depends on the scores of candidates in the same subject and cycle. A familiar paper or an attempt with solutions open is also different from an unseen timed examination.

What topics are covered in the practice section?+

The four original exercises cover limits, variance, matrix properties and radioactive decay. Submit your answers to see your accuracy and explanations, then retry the questions you missed.

The eligibility criteria for admission to KNRUHS courses such as MBBS, MD, MS, etc. are based on merit. For admission in undergraduate courses like BDS, BHMS, BUMS, B.A.M.S., and BNYS, National Eligibility cum Entrance test (NEET-UG) scores are considered. The post-graduate level courses like MS/ MD/ PG Diploma/ MPH, and NEET-PG scores are considered for admission. Other than this, admission in Kaloji Narayana Rao University’s courses like M.H.M.S, M.U.M.S, AND M.A.M.S, is done based on AIAPGET score. Bachelor’s degree is considered only for admission to M.Sc. and MPT in KNRUHS. For super Specialty courses like M.CH and DM or Doctorate of Medicine program, the admission is done based on NEET-SS( Super Speciality Courses ) score.
