IIM Ahmedabad PG Courses Admission 2027

IIM Ahmedabad offers multiple postgraduate management routes. Domestic admission to the two-year PGP and PGP-FABM is through CAT 2026, followed by IIMA shortlisting, Analytical Writing Test (AWT), and Personal Interview (PI). PGPX uses GMAT/GRE and a separate application process, while blended and analytics programs follow program-wise tests and shortlists.

IIM Ahmedabad MBA Admission 2027

The Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) is IIM Ahmedabad's flagship two-year full-time MBA-equivalent program. For the 2027-29 batch, domestic applicants need CAT 2026, and shortlisted candidates appear for AWT and PI in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates need a bachelor's degree of at least three years after 10+2 or equivalent.
• General category candidates need at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
• SC, ST and PwD candidates need at least 45% marks or equivalent CGPA.
• Final-year students and candidates waiting for results may apply under IIMA's provisional admission rules.
• Candidates must be at least 19 years old by June 30, 2027.

CAT 2026 Cutoff for IIM Ahmedabad MBA

Domestic MBA applicants must take CAT 2026. The table shows IIM Ahmedabad's minimum qualifying CAT cutoffs.

Note: Clearing these cutoffs does not guarantee an AWT and PI call.

MBA Selection Process 2027

For the 2027-29 PGP batch, IIMA first checks eligibility and the CAT qualifying cutoff. Candidates who pass this step are scored through a Raw Composite Score that combines CAT performance and Normalized Application Rating.

The Application Rating Score is the total of five parts: Class 10 percentage points (A), Class 12 percentage points (B), bachelor's degree percentage points (C), work experience points (D), and gender diversity points (E). Raw Application Rating equals A + B + C + D + E. This raw rating is normalized against the average of the top 50 scores in the applicant pool.

Raw Composite Score: 0.35 * Normalised ARS + 0.65 * (CAT Total Percentile / 100)

The Raw Composite Score is again normalized within the same UG discipline, not across the whole applicant pool.

Normalized Composite Score: Raw Composite Score / (Average of the top 1% raw composite scores within that discipline)

What Changed for 2027-29?

IIMA earlier compared applicants through 6 broad degree groups, AC-1 to AC-6. For 2027-29, applicants are compared across 20 UG disciplines. The earlier minimum "P" score and 80%ile graduation cutoffs have also been removed.

Candidates with the required CAT cutoffs and a strong enough Composite Score are shortlisted for AWT and PI.

How the Change Affects Applicants

• Engineering / CS: A 78% B.Tech score now gets 5 points instead of 8 points, and applicants are compared within a narrower peer group.
• Commerce / Arts / Law / Medical: The score is tied to the specific discipline, and comparison is also within that discipline.
• Weak Class 10 / 12 Marks: Low marks can reduce the score, but they no longer directly remove a candidate from the process.
• Freshers / Low Work Experience: Freshers still get 0 work-experience points, while CAT now has slightly higher weight.
• Multiple UG Degrees: Each degree is scored on its own, and the higher academic score is used.

• Register for CAT 2026 and complete the application form.

IIM Ahmedabad MBA-FABM Admission 2027

The Post Graduate Program in Food & Agri-business Management admits candidates through CAT 2026, IIMA shortlisting, AWT, and PI. Applicants from agricultural or agriculture-related backgrounds are preferred while preparing the shortlist.

MBA-FABM Eligibility Criteria 2027

• The degree must include at least three years of education after 10+2.
• Final-year bachelor's degree candidates and result-awaited candidates can apply provisionally.
• Final-year candidates must complete all degree requirements by June 30, 2027.
• The final marksheet and degree certificate must be submitted by December 31, 2027.
• Candidates must be at least 19 years old on June 30, 2027, which means born on or before June 30, 2008.

MBA-FABM CAT 2026 Cutoff

Domestic PGP-FABM applicants must take CAT 2026, get a positive raw score in every CAT section, and meet the required overall and sectional percentile cutoffs.

• AC means Academic Category, based on the bachelor's or master's discipline entered in the CAT application.
• AC-1 and AC-2 include agriculture and allied agriculture disciplines.
• AC-3, AC-4 and AC-5 include life sciences or commerce-related disciplines, engineering, and other disciplines.

MBA-FABM Selection Process 2027

PGP-FABM admission has two steps: shortlisting for AWT and PI, followed by final selection after AWT and PI.

Stage 1: Shortlisting for AWT & PI

IIMA considers candidates who have a valid CAT 2026 score, meet the eligibility rules, and clear the minimum CAT cutoffs. Agriculture and agriculture-related degree holders get preference.

How is the Normalized CAT Score Calculated?

For FABM, IIMA uses normalized scores from all three CAT sections.

Normalized CAT Score = (NQAS + NDILRS + NVARCS) / 3

The three sections carry equal value before the Normalized CAT Score receives its 65% weight in the Composite Score.

How is the Application Rating Score Calculated?

The Application Rating Score covers:

Stage 2: Final Selection

Only candidates who attend both AWT and PI are considered for final selection. IIMA calculates the Final Composite Score with these weights:

PI assessment may include interview performance, verifiable awards and recognitions, academics, exceptional achievements, extracurricular activities, relevant post-degree work experience, and post-graduation education.

Special Interest Form for Non-Agriculture Candidates

Non-agriculture candidates shortlisted for PGP-FABM are provisionally shortlisted. They must submit a special interest form online, through the link shared with the CAT result or shortlist announcement, to explain their interest in the program.

The deadline is usually within five days of IIMA declaring the shortlist. If the form is not submitted on time, the candidature is cancelled.

IIM Ahmedabad's MBA-PGPX is a one-year program for professionals with at least 4 years of full-time work experience after graduation. Admission to the 2027-28 batch is held in two rounds and uses GMAT/GRE scores, shortlisting, essays, and a Personal Interview.

PGPX admission for the 2027-28 batch has two stages.

• Shortlisted candidates must submit essays on the given topics within the stated period.

Stage 2: Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates attend a face-to-face Personal Interview with IIMA faculty members. The panel may assess professional background, quality of work experience, career progress, academic readiness, leadership potential, achievements, interpersonal skills, and fit for the program. Selected candidates are informed by email as per the admission timeline.

IIM Ahmedabad PhD Admission 2027

The Doctoral Program in Management at IIM Ahmedabad is a full-time program for students aiming at academic and industrial research careers. It has 11 doctoral specialisations and usually takes four to five years to complete.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master's degree or two-year Post Graduate Diploma after a bachelor's degree with 55% marks or equivalent.
• 5-year Integrated Master's degree after higher secondary education with 55% marks or equivalent.
• CA, CS or CMA with at least 50% marks, along with a bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks.
• 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree with at least 65% marks or equivalent.
• SC, ST, PwD, NC-OBC and EWS candidates get a 5 percentage point relaxation in minimum degree marks, such as 55% relaxed to 50%.
• Final-year master's or bachelor's degree students who meet the qualifying rules may apply under the given provisional admission conditions.

Selection Criteria

• Candidates must take CAT or an accepted standard test in place of CAT, based on the doctoral specialisation.
• Accepted tests may include GRE, GMAT, GATE, UGC-NET JRF, ICAR-SRF and CSIR-UGC NET JRF, depending on the specialisation.
• Each doctoral specialisation accepts its own set of standard tests.
• CAT, GRE and GMAT scores are valid for 5 years; GATE and JRF scores are valid for 3 years; SRF is valid for 1 year.
• Shortlisting depends on CAT or the applicable standard test, academics, experience, and other relevant factors.
• Shortlisted candidates may have to attend online or face-to-face interviews.
• Candidates can apply for a maximum of two doctoral specialisations.

How to Apply for IIM Ahmedabad PhD 2027?

• Fill out the online application form on the IIMA website.
• Choose up to two doctoral specialisations in the form.
• Submit the required test score and academic details.
• Pay the application fee of INR 500. Reserved category candidates pay INR 250.
• Submit the application by January 18, 2027, by 5:00 PM IST.
• Attend the admission interview if shortlisted.

IIMA gives financial assistance that covers academic expenses such as tuition, computer, library, medical insurance, placement and alumni fees. The monthly subsistence allowance is INR 48,000 in the first and second years until clearance of the Area Comprehensive Examination, INR 52,000 after clearing the examination, and INR 58,000 after successful defence and submission of the thesis proposal, up to the end of the fifth year or thesis defence, whichever comes earlier. Students may also get a contingency allowance of INR 35,000 per year for up to five years.

IIM Ahmedabad Scholarship

IIM Ahmedabad offers scholarships and financial support through institute, government, industry, alumni, donor, and endowment-supported schemes. Need-based scholarships consider the student's financial situation, while industry scholarships are given to deserving and meritorious students.
