Candidates with any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply:

• M. Tech., M. E., M. Sc. (Tech.) or its equivalent, along with a four-year graduation recognized by UGC / AICTE in an appropriate area.
• B. Tech., B. E., B. Sc. (Tech.) or its equivalent, with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed, in an appropriate area.
• M. Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Nanotechnology, or Materials Science) – eligible to apply also for research areas related to Solar Energy.
• B. Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Nanotechnology, or Materials Science) – eligible to apply also for research areas related to Solar Energy, with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
