DAU Admission Process

B.Tech Admission

DAU uses JEE Main scores for B.Tech admission. The university does not conduct a separate entrance test for B.Tech. Applications usually run from March to June after JEE Main results are announced on the DAU admission portal.

  • Eligibility: Students must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and must have at least 45% aggregate from a recognised board
  • Entrance: Students need a valid JEE Main score through All India rank or a GUJCET rank for Gujarat state quota seats
  • Selection: DAU publishes merit lists based on JEE Main rank, with separate lists for Gujarat domicile and All India categories
  • The application fee is INR 1,770, including GST

For the flagship ICT programme, the JEE Main cutoff for General Category candidates is in the 40,000 to 90,000 All India Rank range. Cutoffs change by year, category, and specialisation. The B.Tech intake is limited to 312 seats in total.

M.Tech and PG Admission

M.Tech applicants need a valid GATE score, though DAU may consider non-GATE applicants with exceptional profiles. For M.Sc in Data Science, IT, and Agriculture, and for M.Des, admission is through DAU's entrance test or merit in the qualifying degree. PhD applicants need NET/GATE qualification or must clear the DAU Research Entrance Test. They also have to submit a research proposal and appear for an interview with department faculty.

DAU Placements

DAU placements for 2025-26 showed strong results for UG and PG students. The UG average package was INR 14.36 LPA, and the highest offer was INR 57 LPA. Among the top 50 placed UG students, the average package was INR 37.52 LPA. More than 150 companies took part in the placement drive.

For PG students from M.Tech and M.Sc, the average package was INR 7.57 LPA, while the highest package was INR 21.89 LPA. DAU's ICT and CS-focused courses give technology recruiters a focused student group, and the smaller B.Tech intake of 312 seats supports close placement attention.

Recruiters at DAU include Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, and Goldman Sachs, along with many IT services and product companies. Its JEE Main-based student intake, ICT curriculum, and industry connections help the university record placement results that are ahead of most private engineering universities in Gujarat and close to many NIT-level outcomes.

DAU Rankings

DAU was ranked in the 201-300 band for Engineering in NIRF 2025. The university is recognised by UGC and has a NAAC A+ grade.

Ranking BodyCategoryRankYear
NIRFEngineering201-300 band2025

The NIRF Engineering rank should be viewed with DAU's size in mind. It is a focused single-school university with 312 B.Tech seats, while many ranked institutions are much larger. Its UG average package of INR 14.36 LPA and JEE Main-based intake also show its academic and placement strength.

DAU Campus and Infrastructure

DAU has a 50-acre campus in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, within 25 km of Ahmedabad. The campus is built for computing and engineering education. It includes high-speed fibre connectivity, advanced computing laboratories, an electronics lab, and modern seminar facilities. The residential campus is compact and self-contained.

Hostels are available on campus for male and female students. Hostel fees are INR 1.41 to 2.04 Lakhs per year, based on room type. Since the campus is close to Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, students can access internship options, technology parks, and startup networks. The Ahmedabad metro connection to Gandhinagar also improves travel access for day scholars and visiting industry mentors.

Dhirubhai Ambani University vs IIT Gandhinagar vs BITS Pilani Hyderabad

Students who miss IIT Gandhinagar cutoffs but want technology courses often compare DAU with IIT Gandhinagar and BITS Pilani's Hyderabad campus. These institutes use JEE or BITSAT routes and are known for technology-sector placements.

IIT Gandhinagar has the IIT brand, a much better NIRF rank, lower government-subsidised fees, and placement averages that are consistently higher than DAU's. BITS Pilani Hyderabad offers a wider programme range and has a large alumni network in the global IT sector, but its fee is higher than DAU's. DAU's strengths are its location near Ahmedabad's technology ecosystem, its ICT-focused curriculum, and a UG average package of INR 14.36 LPA. For students focused on ICT, AI, or Design in Gujarat, DAU is a strong option when their JEE rank is below IIT cutoffs.
