According to NIRF, Feb 2024 reports, Kerala University is ranked 47th in the overall category and 24th in the university category in India. Kerala University is ranked 451-500 in Asian University Rankings and 110 in Southern Asia by the QS Ranking 2023.

The University of Kerala provides hostel accommodations for residential students, male and female for all its campuses. There are six hostels that are available at the Kariavattom campus and Thycaud in Thiruvananthapuram: two are for men (postgraduate and research students) and three are for women (two for postgraduate students and one for research students). Research, M.Phil., postgraduate, and undergraduate students are all eligible to be admitted to these hostels.

While Thycaud Women's Hostel admits students from government colleges at all levels, including research and degree programmes, Kariavattom only allows admission to university departments.

Furthermore, the International Youth Hostel, which is situated in the heart of Trivandrum, provides faculty and students with short-term housing. Every year, routine maintenance is done of all the hostels. 

For MBA admission, Kerala University accepts scores from national or state entrance exams, including CAT, CMAT, and KMAT. Applicants to law programs at Kerala University must pass the Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE)  A valid GATE score or a legitimate university test score are additional requirements for admission to Kerala University's M.Tech programme.

The fee structure for Kerala University for their various courses are as follows:

• B.E. / B.Tech: INR 45.65 K - 2.6 L (for 3-4 years)
• B.Sc.: INR 1.98 K - 1.38 L (for 3-4 years)
• MBA/PGDM: INR 36 K - 7.96 L (for 2 years)
• M.Sc.: INR 2.2 K - 2.28 L (for 2 years)

The grades at Kerala University are calculated by the following method:

GPA = ∑ Credit x GP obtained for the subject or g1c1+g2c2+g3c3+… ∑ credit for subject c1+c2+c3… Cumulative Grade point Average (CGPA) is the average grade points obtained by the students till the end of any particular semester.

KU offers 3 Year Undergraduate programs like Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor in Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA),Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA),Bachelor in Social Service (BSW), Bachelor of Management Study (BMS), Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) in the field of Commerce, Science, Arts & Management.

KU also offers 2 Year Postgraduate programs such as Masters in Arts (MA), Masters in Science (M.Sc), Masters in Commerce (M.Com), Masters in Technology (M.Tech), Masters in Social Work (MSW), Masters in Education (M.Ed), MCJ, LLM, M.Li.Sc in the field of Mass Communication, Arts, Commerce, Education, Science, Engineering, Law etc.

• Eligibility Criteria: For admission into Undergraduate program at KU, the students must complete their 10+2 in the relevant subject as per the course requirement. For admission into the Postgraduate program at KU, the basic eligibility criteria is that the students must have graduation from a recognised university
• Selection Criteria: The final selection will be done on the basis of the merit/rank according to the university guidelines, followed by an interview.
