The university had not released official final placement results for the 2025 season, while the latest audited NIRF 2025 data recorded 455 placed postgraduate students from MGU’s directly-taught campus programs in 2023-24 with a median salary of INR 5.5 LPA.

MGU also reported placements for its five-year integrated programs in 2023-24, where 26 out of 38 students were placed at a median salary of INR 4 LPA. In 2022, the median salary for the same category was INR 1.8 LPA. These NIRF numbers apply only to main campus departments and do not include affiliated colleges across Kerala.

MG University Placement Highlights

MG University’s placement record for directly-run campus programs shows a strong rise in PG 2-year placements in 2023-24. The PG 2-year placement rate reached 74% in 2024, compared with 20% in 2023 and 18% in 2022.

The UG 5-year median salary also improved across the three NIRF reporting years, rising from INR 1.8 LPA in 2022 to INR 4 LPA in 2024. The PG median salary stood at INR 5.5 LPA in 2024, after being reported at INR 6 LPA in 2023.

MG University Placement Details

MGU’s directly-taught postgraduate programs together placed 455 students in 2023-24, as reported in NIRF 2025. The median salary for PG 2-year students was INR 5.5 LPA. For UG 5-year programs, 26 out of 38 students were placed at a median salary of INR 4 LPA.

The university has shared aggregate NIRF placement data for its main campus departments. It has not published separate department-wise placement results for every program.

SMBS MBA Placements at MGU

SMBS offers a two-year full-time MBA as an AICTE-approved statutory department of MGU. The 2023-25 MBA batch entered the final placement stage in 2025 and had 37% male students and 63% female students. By industry background, the batch included 31% students from IT and ITES, 23% from manufacturing, 15% from services, 8% from BFSI and consulting, and 23% from self-employed backgrounds.

Most students in the batch were fresh graduates starting their careers, with 66% falling in the 21 to 23 age group. SMBS had not released the final placement figures for the 2025 batch. The official placement brochure mentioned an earlier SMBS alumna placed as Assistant Manager II at ICICI Bank, showing the type of banking and financial services role secured by previous graduates.

For the 2023-25 batch, internship placements covered manufacturing, infrastructure, IT, retail, hospitality, and financial services. Manufacturing and industrial internship recruiters included MRF Limited, Apollo Tyres (Kalamassery), Hindalco Industries, Cochin Shipyard, Steel Industrials Kerala, and Milma. Infrastructure and public sector names included Kochi Metro Rail Limited, Keltron Equipment Complex (Karakulam), and SOBHA Ltd.

IT and telecom internship opportunities came from Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Federal Operations and Services Ltd, and Oxygen Digital (Kottayam). Hospitality and retail recruiters included The Gateway Hotel by Taj Group (Kozhikode), Hyatt Regency Thrissur, Lemon Tree Hotels, Mall of Travancore, and Decathlon (Kalamassery). Other employers listed were Quess Corp Ltd, ABTEC, MediaOne TV (Kozhikode), DC Books (Kottayam), Travancore Sugars and Chemicals, Evergreen Exports (Kochi), and Autocast Ltd (Cherthala).

Other Programs at MGU

MGU also runs postgraduate programs directly in computer science, humanities, biosciences, commerce, and allied areas. These programs formed part of the NIRF 2025 aggregate in which 455 students were placed in 2023-24 at a PG median salary of INR 5.5 LPA. The NIRF data does not provide a separate department-wise breakup.

In the UG 5-year category, 26 of 38 students were placed in 2023-24 with a median salary of INR 4 LPA. This improved from a 47% placement rate and INR 1.8 LPA median salary in 2022. The median salary for the five-year integrated program increased in each of the three NIRF reporting cycles.
