Eligibility Criteria:

• A minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates) at both Higher Secondary and Senior Secondary (classes X and XII) levels.
• Biology, Physics & Chemistry as main subjects at 10+2 level, with a minimum aggregate score of 60% in these three.

Selection Criteria: For admission to the course, eligible candidates are needed to qualify a relevant entrance examination, conducted at any of institute, state and national levels. Two subsequent rounds of group discussion and personal interview subsequently follow for assessment of candidate’s general aptitude for the course.

About The Course: Biotechnology is a part of Applied Biology, which simply stated, is the combination of biology with technology so as to alter cells for manipulation. The course familiarizes candidates with the usage of living organisms and bio processes in the field of medicine, technology, engineering, and other bio products. Typically, the course aims to impart to eligible candidates, advanced lessons in biological process meant for industrial and other purposes, especially the genetic manipulation of microorganisms for the production of antibiotics, hormones, etc. which are used in production of medicines and other such products. Aspiring candidates having a scientific aptitude and keen interest in biological sciences are ideally suited for the course. Such candidates would possess an analytical mind, have problem-solving skills, and proficiency with the use of computers.
