HIT Haldia Admission Dates 2027

For B.Tech admission at HIT Haldia, students need to follow the WBJEE counselling process run by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. The next admission cycle is expected to begin with WBJEE 2027 registration.

HIT Haldia accepts the following entrance exams for different programmes.

HIT Haldia Courses and Fees

HIT Haldia runs 23 courses in engineering, technology, management, and computing. Every regular B.Tech branch has the same total fee of INR 6.13 Lakhs for four years. M.Tech fees depend on the specialisation and range from INR 1.76 Lakhs to INR 2.24 Lakhs for two years.

The newer B.Tech options in AI and Machine Learning, Data Sciences, and Cyber Security have the same fee as the older engineering branches. HIT Haldia has industry tie-ups for applied AI learning through its AI Innovation Arena framework.

HIT Haldia Admission Process

For B.Tech seats, HIT Haldia mainly uses WBJEE scores. WBJEE is the common entrance route for MAKAUT-affiliated colleges in West Bengal. Students with JEE Main scores may also be considered in a separate merit category.

B.Tech (4-year and Lateral Entry)

Most B.Tech seats are allotted through centralised online counselling conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB).

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) at 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC)
• For Biotechnology and Agricultural Engineering: PCB or PCM at 45%
• Students need a valid WBJEE 2026 rank or JEE Main 2026 rank
• WBJEE closing ranks at HIT Haldia range from AIR 5,000 (CSE) to AIR 64,000 (less popular branches) for the General Category
• Selection: centralised online counselling by the WBJEE board, with college preference filling and seat allotment rounds

Diploma holders can enter directly into the 2nd year of B.Tech through JELET, the West Bengal Lateral Entry Test conducted by WBJEEB.

M.Tech

M.Tech admission is based on GATE scores in the relevant engineering subject. Students who do not have a valid GATE score can take HIT Haldia’s institutional admission test.

• Eligibility: B.Tech in the relevant discipline with 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD)
• GATE-qualified M.Tech students may receive an AICTE scholarship as per government rules

MBA and MCA

For MBA, HIT Haldia accepts MAT, CAT, or CMAT scores. MCA admission is through WBJEEB’s entrance exam or the institute’s own test. Both courses are open to graduates who meet the required minimum marks.

• MBA eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate
• MCA eligibility: Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level, 50% aggregate

HIT Haldia Placements

HIT Haldia’s Training and Placement Cell organises campus hiring for final-year B.Tech, MBA, and MCA students. In the 2024 placement season, more than 160 companies selected 1,211 students. The institute recorded a placement rate of 89.48%. The highest package was INR 33 LPA, the average package was INR 5.8 LPA, and the reported median salary for UG graduates was INR 5 LPA.

Most hiring comes from IT services, product engineering, BFSI, and manufacturing. Because the college is located in the Haldia Industrial Corridor, students also get internship and job exposure in petrochemical, chemical, and port-logistics companies.

CSE, IT, ECE, and AI and ML see the strongest placement rates and average packages. Chemical and Biotechnology students often move into Haldia’s industrial companies or choose government research fellowships and higher studies.

HIT Haldia Campus and Infrastructure

HIT Haldia is based in the Haldia Industrial Corridor in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, about 130 km south of Kolkata. The campus covers 37 to 40 acres in the industrial township. Its location near major petrochemical and port complexes helps students work on internships and projects connected with large process industries.

The campus has 50+ NBA-compliant laboratories across departments, including VLSI design, robotics, advanced computing, and food science labs. In 2025, the institute completed a solar energy installation and Wi-Fi expansion upgrade.
