RCCIIT Kolkata Admission Dates 2027

The 2027-28 RCCIIT admission cycle is expected to start with WBJEE registration. The tentative schedule for events that are still ahead is given below.

RCCIIT Kolkata Courses and Fees

Students can choose from five B.Tech specialisations, three M.Tech specialisations, MCA, BCA and B.Sc in Computer Science. The main subject areas include Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics and Electrical Engineering.

The total B.Tech fee is INR 6.04 Lakhs for each of the five specialisations. M.Tech students pay INR 1.81 Lakhs in total for CSE, Artificial Intelligence, or Microelectronics and VLSI Design. This M.Tech fee places the programme among the lower-cost postgraduate engineering options in Kolkata's government-aided college segment.

RCCIIT Kolkata Admission Process

RCCIIT uses entrance scores, centralised counselling and course-specific eligibility rules for admission. B.Tech applicants enter through WBJEEB counselling, while MAKAUT manages the centralised process for the postgraduate programmes. BCA and B.Sc (CS) admission may be merit-based or use CUET UG.

B.Tech Admission

A WBJEE rank or JEE Main score is used for B.Tech seat allotment through the centralised counselling held by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB).

• Eligibility: Applicants need at least 45% in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The minimum is 40% for reserved categories in West Bengal.
• Entrance requirement: A valid WBJEE rank or JEE Main score is accepted. West Bengal state quota seats require WBJEE.
• Admission steps: Register online through the WBJEEB portal, enter college and branch choices, receive the seat allotment, complete document verification, pay the fee and report to RCCIIT.
• Lateral entry: Diploma holders can take JELET, the Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test in West Bengal, and seek direct admission to Year 2.

CSE generally has the most competitive WBJEE cutoff at RCCIIT. IT and AI and ML usually follow it, while ECE and Electrical Engineering have lower cutoff ranks. Every branch is approved by AICTE and affiliated with MAKAUT.

M.Tech Admission

MAKAUT centralised counselling is the route for M.Tech admission. RCCIIT gives preference to a valid GATE score for the CSE and AI specialisations.

• Eligibility: A B.Tech or B.E. in the relevant field with at least 60% aggregate marks
• Entrance requirement: A GATE score is preferred, or applicants may take the MAKAUT entrance test
• Available specialisations: CSE, Artificial Intelligence, and Microelectronics and VLSI Design

MCA Admission

For MCA admission, students can use a JEMAT, Joint Entrance for MCA and Applications, or CUET PG score in MAKAUT counselling. Applicants must have studied Mathematics and completed graduation with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

RCCIIT Kolkata Placements

The Training and Placement Cell organises campus recruitment each year. During the 2024-25 season, the highest offer reached INR 14 LPA, while the average package was INR 4.80 LPA. Of the eligible students who registered, 80 to 90 per cent were reported as placed.

TCS, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Wipro, BMC Software and Johnson Controls are among the main recruiters. Graduates from CSE and IT mainly join IT services, product and consulting roles in Kolkata, Bengaluru and the NCR. Students from AI and ML are increasingly hired by analytics firms and product companies focused on artificial intelligence.

RCCIIT Kolkata Rankings

RCCIIT was listed in the 51 to 100 band for Innovation in the 2022-23 NIRF Rankings. This category reflects its position among Indian technical institutes for research and innovation output. The institute is not listed separately in the NIRF Engineering or Overall rankings.

RCCIIT also has a NAAC A grade, based on an assessment of its academic quality and governance. Its place in the NIRF Innovation band is notable for an institute of its size because most colleges affiliated with MAKAUT are not included in NIRF.

RCCIIT Kolkata Campus and Infrastructure

RCCIIT's address is Canal South Road, Beliaghata, Kolkata 700015. Students can reach the campus through the Sealdah suburban railway corridor and city bus services connecting central Kolkata with its eastern suburbs.

Academic facilities include computer laboratories, Electronics and Communication laboratories, an Electrical Machines laboratory, and an AI and Data Science laboratory for the newer specialisations. The central library provides access to the IEEE and Springer digital libraries. Students can also join coding clubs and the institute's ISTE technical society chapter. These groups hold annual hackathons with industry partners.

There is no hostel on the RCCIIT campus. Students generally find private accommodation in nearby Beliaghata, Ultadanga and Phoolbagan, where affordable paying guest options are available.

RCCIIT Kolkata vs Heritage Institute of Technology vs Techno Main Salt Lake

Students interested in Computer Science and Information Technology often compare RCCIIT with Heritage Institute of Technology and Techno Main Salt Lake. All three institutions are in Kolkata, are affiliated with MAKAUT and offer B.Tech programmes in CS or IT fields. RCCIIT is government-aided, while the other two are private colleges.

RCCIIT's government-aided model keeps its fees below those of its private counterparts, and its founding partnership with NIC connects the institute with the government IT ecosystem. Heritage Institute of Technology has a larger campus and reports higher placement packages. Techno Main Salt Lake is close to the Salt Lake IT sector and eastern India's technology hub. Their MAKAUT-affiliated academic programmes are otherwise comparable.
