AOT Admission Dates 2027

The expected schedule for the 2027-28 session begins with WBJEE registration. Registration generally opens in November, while the examination is usually conducted in April.

AOT Courses and Fees

Students can choose from seven B.Tech branches and an MCA programme at AOT. Regular B.Tech courses cover eight semesters over four years. Diploma holders may complete B.Tech through a six-semester, three-year lateral entry route. The total fee for every regular B.Tech branch is INR 6,12,200.

For B.Tech, the first-semester charge is INR 1,43,200 because it includes admission and development charges. Each semester from the second through the eighth costs INR 67,000. The CSE department offers the AI and ML specialisation with coursework focused on machine learning and intelligent systems.

AOT Admission Process

Entrance examination ranks determine admission to AOT. WBJEE is the main route for applicants from West Bengal, while the applicable national or state examination is used for each programme.

B.Tech Admission

1. Complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Applicants need at least 45% aggregate marks. The minimum is 40% for West Bengal SC, ST, OBC-A and OBC-B applicants.
2. Obtain a valid rank in WBJEE or a valid JEE Main score.
3. Register for centralised counselling on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board portal.
4. Complete online choice filling and lock the selected choices.
5. Accept the seat allotted through WBJEEB counselling according to rank, category and available seats.

B.Tech Lateral Entry

1. Earn an engineering diploma in the relevant branch with at least 60% marks.
2. Take JELET, the Joint Lateral Entry Test conducted in West Bengal.
3. Join WBJEEB centralised counselling using the JELET result.
4. After admission, enter B.Tech in the second year, beginning with the third semester.

MCA Admission

1. Complete BCA, B.Sc Computer Science or another graduation programme that included Mathematics as a subject, with at least 50% marks.
2. Appear for WB JECA, the Joint Entrance for Computer Application.
3. Participate in WBJEEB counselling, where selection is based on the WB JECA rank.

AOT Cutoffs

Closing ranks change with the counselling round, applicant category, competition and seat availability. For the General category in Round 2 of WBJEE 2025, CSE had the lowest closing rank among the three listed branches.

AOT Placements

IT and service companies account for a major share of hiring at AOT. NIRF 2025 information shows that 529 undergraduate students secured placements and the median salary was INR 4.20 LPA. The institute gained TCS Priority College status in June 2026, supporting regular recruitment by TCS.

Students from CSE, CSE with Business Systems and CSE with AI and ML make up the main placement group. ECE students enter telecom and embedded systems roles, while Mechanical Engineering students find opportunities in the automotive and manufacturing industries. More than 74% of the 2024-25 graduating batch engaged in placements.

The placement office prepares students through coding bootcamps, technical workshops and practice recruitment drives conducted with companies. Access to Kolkata's IT corridor and the Durgapur industrial zone also helps students explore both software and core engineering roles.

AOT Scholarships

AOT students may seek financial support through central and West Bengal government schemes. The West Bengal Freeship is the main state programme available to eligible students.

During the reporting year covered by NIRF 2025 data, 92 of 2,474 enrolled students received complete tuition fee reimbursement through state government programmes.

AOT Campus and Infrastructure

AOT's self-contained campus covers 10.66 acres at Adisaptagram along the GT Road, or NH-19, corridor in Hooghly district. Academic buildings, administration offices and hostels stand within the same campus boundary. The institute is nearly 60 km from Kolkata and can be reached by road or by train through Hooghly station.

Learning facilities include 44 advanced laboratories for the engineering departments, a central computer laboratory, a digital library and a 350-seat auditorium. Separate on-campus hostels provide 250 seats for boys and 130 seats for girls. Students also have access to a sports area and round-the-clock medical services.

AOT has 116 faculty members, and its student-to-faculty ratio follows AICTE requirements. Dr. Avishek Chakraborty, a faculty member, appeared in the 2025 Elsevier and Stanford University list of the world's top 2% scientists. The institute has also entered into MOUs with industry organisations for research cooperation, training and placements.

AOT vs JIS College of Engineering vs Techno Main Salt Lake

Students with WBJEE ranks between 30,000 and 1,00,000 often consider AOT alongside JIS College of Engineering in Kalyani and Techno Main Salt Lake in Kolkata. All three are private engineering colleges affiliated with MAKAUT, but they differ in location, campus setting and placement focus.

Techno Main Salt Lake's Kolkata location makes IT park recruitment events easier to reach. JIS College of Engineering has a larger campus and a wider student population. For students concentrating on CSE placements, AOT's TCS Priority College recognition is a notable difference.
