Kalyani Government Engineering College was founded by the West Bengal government in 1995. Affiliated to MAKUT Kolkata, the college is AICTE approved. IIRF ranked the college at 148 for BTech, in 2024.

KGEC BTech has five specialisations: Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should have completed 10+2 with 45% marks. The selection committee bases the selection of candidates on WBJEE/JEE Mains scores. 315 seats is the total intake of this course. The total fees of this course ranges from Rs 28,227 to Rs 1.01 Lakhs, based on the specialisation. KGEC Nadia Admissions are entrance based, solely. Scholarships at KGEC Nadia are awarded by the Government of India.

KGEC Placement Drive 2020 achieved 238 placements. The highest package was recorded at INR 8 LPA, while the average package stood at INR 3.36 LPA. Reputed organisations like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro were top recruiters. So were Oracle, Hindustan Unilever, Cognizant, and Hitachi.
