IIM Nagpur Admission Dates 2027

IIM Nagpur MBA (PGP) admission for the 2027-29 batch depends on CAT 2026. After CAT results are declared, the institute opens its own application process in December 2026. IIM Nagpur does not use IIM CAP and conducts a separate PI and Extempore process.

IIM Nagpur Courses and Fees

IIM Nagpur offers the two-year MBA, working professional programmes, doctoral programmes and short PG certificates. The fee structure starts at INR 51,000 for Ph.D. (Management) and goes up to INR 21.50 Lakhs for the flagship MBA.

Ph.D. (Management) fellows get MHRD or institute stipends for living costs during the minimum four-year programme. For MBA PGP students, residential hostel stay is compulsory and costs INR 20,000 per semester in addition to the programme fee.

IIM Nagpur Admission Process

IIM Nagpur admits students only on merit and has no management quota. Reservation is followed as per Government of India rules: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for NC-OBC, 10% for EWS and 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.

MBA (PGP) Admission

Students applying for MBA at IIM Nagpur must meet these conditions:

• Bachelor’s degree of at least three years from a recognised university
• Minimum 50% aggregate in graduation, or 45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates
• Valid CAT score for Indian applicants. Overseas applicants can use a valid GMAT score taken within 36 months of application
• Final-year graduation students may apply on a conditional basis
• Positive score, which means more than zero, is needed in all three CAT sections: VARC, DILR and QA

The MBA selection process has three stages. First, candidates apply through CAT or GMAT as applicable. Next, shortlisted students appear for IIM Nagpur’s own Personal Interview and Extempore round. Final admission is based on a composite score that gives 45% weight to CAT, 25% to PI and Extempore, 10% to past academics, 10% to work experience and 10% to Gender Diversity Index.

MBA for Working Professionals and EMBA Admission

MBA for Working Professionals and EMBA are open to working professionals with at least five years of full-time post-qualification work experience. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate. Selection is through IIMNAT, the IIM Nagpur Admission Test, followed by a personal interview.

Ph.D. (Management) Admission

For Ph.D. (Management), applicants must have a postgraduate degree such as MBA, MSc, MA or MCom, or a professional qualification such as CA/ICWA, with at least 55% aggregate. A valid CAT, GATE, UGC NET or GMAT score is needed for shortlisting. Final selection includes a research proposal presentation and interview.

IIM Nagpur Cutoffs

IIM Nagpur uses category-wise CAT percentile cutoffs while shortlisting candidates for the MBA (PGP) 2027-29 admission cycle. The expected cutoffs below are based on prior cycles.

IIM Nagpur Placements

IIM Nagpur completed placements for the 2023-25 batch with 100% placements for 267 students. The highest CTC was INR 69.57 LPA, the average CTC was INR 18.07 LPA and the median CTC was INR 17.03 LPA. The top 25% of the batch received an average CTC of INR 25.14 LPA.

Deloitte, ICICI Bank, Cognizant, Capgemini, Adani, BNY Mellon, Accenture, Amazon, Vedanta, BNP Paribas, Tata Power, Aditya Birla Capital and FedEx were among the major recruiters in 2025. General Management made up 20% of roles, while Strategy and Consulting accounted for 18%. ITES had the largest sector share at 31%, followed by BFSI at 30%.

In 2025, 89 new recruiters joined IIM Nagpur placements for the first time. The average CTC increased from INR 16.29 LPA in 2024 to INR 18.07 LPA in 2025, showing an 11% year-on-year rise.

IIM Nagpur Rankings

IIM Nagpur is placed at #25 in NIRF Management 2025. In 2024, its rank was 31, so the institute improved its national position among management institutions.

IIM Nagpur is recognised by the Ministry of Education as an Institute of National Importance under the IIM Act. It is not NAAC-accredited at present, which is in line with most IIMs that do not apply for external accreditation from bodies such as NAAC.

IIM Nagpur Campus and Infrastructure

IIM Nagpur runs from its permanent and fully residential campus at MIHAN SEZ, Nagpur. The location is part of an international logistics and aerospace hub, giving students access to Nagpur International Airport and multinational companies present in the zone.

The campus includes academic blocks, case discussion rooms, a library, computer labs and student residences. MBA PGP students must stay in the hostel, and the hostel fee is INR 20,000 per semester. Its MIHAN SEZ location and nearby industrial clusters also support industry guest faculty sessions and live project opportunities.

The 2026-28 batch has 340 students, with women forming 52% of the class. This gender diversity level is one of the strongest among IIMs and is supported through the Gender Diversity Index in the selection weightage formula.

IIM Nagpur vs IIM Raipur vs IIM Trichy

Students who receive an IIM Nagpur shortlist often compare it with IIM Raipur and IIM Trichy. These institutes are also newer IIMs with similar programme formats and comparable national standing.

IIM Trichy has a higher NIRF rank and a longer record. IIM Raipur stands between IIM Nagpur and IIM Trichy in age and ranking. IIM Nagpur stands out for its 52% women in the 2026-28 batch, which is higher than both peers. All three institutes accept CAT for the flagship MBA and follow Government of India reservation rules. Students comparing offers should look at location, campus infrastructure stage, past average CTC trends and NIRF rank.
