VKSU Admission Dates 2026

The UG 2026-30 and PG 2026-28 admission cycles are in their closing stages. Undergraduate admission is decided from Class 12 marks, while postgraduate selection uses the VKSU entrance examination followed by merit listing and seat allotment.

VKSU Courses and Fees

VKSU runs 84 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The subjects span arts, science, commerce, education, library science, management, and computer applications. Total programme fees range from INR 2,690 for BA to INR 1,50,000 for M.Ed.

BBA, BCA, MBA, MCA, B.Ed, and M.Ed have higher fees than the conventional arts and science courses. The AICTE-approved MBA and MCA programmes serve students seeking professional qualifications in eastern Bihar.

VKSU Admission Process

VKSU uses two main selection methods. Class 12 merit determines admission to most undergraduate courses, while an entrance test is used for most postgraduate programmes. Applicants complete the process online through the SAMARTH portal at vksuadm.samarth.edu.in.

The general application process has the following stages:

1. Register and submit the required details through the VKSU SAMARTH admission portal.
2. Select the relevant programme and provide the academic information required for eligibility and selection.
3. For merit-based undergraduate admission, wait for the Class 12 merit list. Applicants for entrance-based programmes must complete the applicable test.
4. After selection, choose the preferred constituent college and subjects where this option applies.
5. Complete document verification and pay the prescribed fee to confirm admission.

BA, B.Sc, B.Com and Professional UG Admission

For BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, and BCA, VKSU prepares the selection list entirely from Class 12 scores and does not hold a separate entrance examination. Students apply through SAMARTH, then select their preferred constituent college and subjects after the merit list is issued. Admission is completed through document checking and fee payment. Applicants to BCA must have studied Mathematics in Class 12.

B.Ed and M.Ed Admission

Graduation marks and NCTE rules form the basis of B.Ed admission. The programme carries NCTE code APE00529, lasts two years, and has an intake controlled through state-level seat allocation. For M.Ed, applicants need a B.Ed degree with teaching experience and must also perform in the VKSU entrance test.

MA, M.Sc and M.Com Admission

Applicants to the conventional postgraduate courses must hold a relevant undergraduate degree and qualify through the VKSU PG Entrance Examination. The minimum mark requirement is 45% for general-category applicants and 40% for reserved-category applicants.

MBA and MCA Admission

Any graduate may apply for MBA. Selection takes account of the VKSU entrance test as well as MAT or CMAT scores. MCA applicants must have studied Mathematics during their undergraduate degree and qualify through the university entrance examination. AICTE approves both programmes.

PhD Admission

For research admission, applicants must either qualify UGC NET or JRF or secure the required score in the VKSU Research Entrance Test. Those who clear the written stage attend an interview in their chosen subject. PhD options cover humanities, social sciences, commerce, and sciences, and the registration fee is INR 1,13,500.

VKSU Career Outcomes

VKSU does not organise campus placements. Many arts, commerce, and science graduates instead prepare for government recruitment examinations. Common routes include BPSC, UPSC Civil Services, SSC, banking examinations, and other public-sector opportunities.

Career directions differ by programme:

• B.Ed and M.Ed graduates can compete for government-school teaching posts through the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination and Bihar TET. Government schools in Bhojpur and neighbouring districts are a major employment route for B.Ed graduates of VKSU constituent colleges.
• MBA graduates take entry-level work in private management, banking operations, retail, and logistics businesses across eastern Bihar and the wider eastern India market.
• MCA and BCA graduates move into IT services, software testing, and digital services. Those who pass company-specific tests for national IT positions usually relocate to metropolitan cities.
• M.Sc graduates pursue lectureships at affiliated colleges, scientific officer posts in government agencies, and PhD research fellowships.
• MA and M.Com graduates use their qualifications for state and central government services, education jobs, and banking roles filled through IBPS examinations.

VKSU has produced candidates who clear BPSC and Bihar TET examinations. Among its courses, B.Ed is most directly connected with employment because Bihar continues to require government-school teachers.

VKSU Campus and Infrastructure

The main VKSU campus in Arrah contains its administrative block, central library, and buildings for postgraduate teaching and research departments. Its central library provides printed material and an expanding collection of digital resources. Separate accommodation is available for male and female students on the campus.

Students can use a grievance portal and a dedicated mobile application for everyday administrative work. These services include examination-form submission and access to results.

Beyond the main campus, 17 constituent colleges carry VKSU education across Bhojpur and neighbouring districts. They come under the university's direct administrative control and follow its syllabi and examination schedules. The more than 10 affiliated colleges, in comparison, retain relative autonomy.

VKSU vs Magadh University vs Jai Prakash University

Veer Kunwar Singh University, Magadh University in Bodh Gaya, and Jai Prakash University in Chapra are Bihar state universities with similar low-fee choices in arts, science, and commerce. Each serves many first-generation college students in its respective region.

Among these three universities, VKSU has the highest NAAC grade at B+. Magadh University is the oldest and serves a larger area across the Gaya division, while Jai Prakash University covers the Saran-Siwan belt of northern Bihar. Students from Bhojpur and Buxar commonly select VKSU, while those in the Gaya and Saran regions generally choose Magadh University and Jai Prakash University respectively. Their conventional arts and science courses have broadly comparable academic choices and fee structures.
