Ranchi women’s college was one of the most popular college located in Ranchi which is the capital of Jharkhand and it was affiliated under Ranchi university. This was one of the oldest college which provides the higher education for women in the field of social sciences/humanities, sciences and commerce. It was founded in the year 1949. The college has stepped into a new status of autonomous by University Grant Commission(UGC) in the academic year 2011-2012. The Ranchi women’s college was also subjected to NAAC accreditation for evaluation of the standard of the college in various aspects and was awarded with Grade B++;in the year 2017.

The college both UG and PG courses in regular and also it provides self-financing vocational courses in UG as well as PG. Along with this the college gives self-financed B.Ed course to the students. The college consists of two separate blocks. One is arts block which comprises of classrooms and laboratories for arts, administration block, hostel, staff quartres, office room etc., Another block is the science block which consists of classrooms and laboratories for science, B.Ed and other facilities. The science block also includes large play ground, herbal garden, gym, canteen.

On a whole, the college offers 21 Ug courses (regular), 9 PG courses(regular), 6 UG & PG self-financing vocational courses and 1 B.Ed self-financing course. Apart from the regular programmes the college also provides intermediate programmes through which yearly approximately 3000 students joined. Nearly 10000 students are studying the college including all the three programmes i.e., UG, PG and intermediate programmes. Excluding the intermediate students, out of 7000 students, ariund 9.2% students are in PG courses, the remaining 90.8% are in UG courses. The students under reserved category are more than 23.5%. It find to be a great way for the women in Ranchi to build up their career and future in a brighter way. This college is just making the students to be more confident, self-reliant, creative thinking and unique.
