SOL DU Admission Dates 2026

For the 2026 to 27 session, SOL DU (CDOE) is accepting applications for UG, PG and skill programmes. UG courses use Class 12 merit and do not need CUET. External applicants for PG courses need CUET PG scores or DU entrance test results, depending on the programme.

Most PG programmes give a separate route to internal DU students, which means students who completed their previous degree from a DU affiliated college or SOL DU get priority. External candidates must apply through CUET PG or the DU entrance route. The admission cycle generally runs from June to September each year.

SOL DU Courses and Fees

SOL DU runs 18 UG programmes, more than 10 PG programmes and over 25 certificate and skill courses through correspondence and online learning. Its fee structure keeps a University of Delhi degree affordable for distance learners.

B.Sc Computer Science was added to SOL DU for the 2026 to 27 session. Certificate and diploma courses in foreign languages, digital literacy, accounting and trades cost INR 5,000 to 15,000 per course. Students receive course material in both print and online formats.

SOL DU Admission Process

SOL DU (CDOE) uses Class 12 merit for most UG courses. PG and professional programmes follow entrance, CUET or programme-specific selection rules.

UG Admissions (BA, B.Com, BBA, BMS, B.Lib)

Students must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board in any stream. Most BA programmes do not mention a minimum percentage. CUET and entrance tests are not required for UG admission. Applicants submit the form online at sol.du.ac.in. Admission is given according to Class 12 aggregate marks to all students who meet the minimum qualification. Most correspondence programmes do not have an upper seat limit, so SOL DU remains one of the easier DU routes for students across India.

PG Admissions (MA, M.Com)

For MA and M.Com, students need a relevant UG degree with at least 45% aggregate. DU internal students, including students from DU affiliated colleges and SOL DU, get priority in PG admission. Students from non-DU institutions need a valid CUET PG score or must appear for the DU entrance test. MA English and MA Political Science are more competitive for external candidates because the seat caps are limited.

MBA Admission

Applicants need a UG degree in any stream with at least 50% aggregate. SOL DU accepts CAT, MAT, CMAT and DU entrance test scores. The selection process includes screening through entrance score and a Personal Interview. The MBA is taught in distance mode across 4 years.

Library Science (B.Lib, M.Lib)

B.Lib.I.Sc is a 3-year correspondence programme and requires 10+2. It includes practical sessions at the study centre. M.Lib.I.Sc runs for 1 year and requires B.Lib.I.Sc or an equivalent degree. Both courses are approved by the Library and Information Science Board of DU.

SOL DU Career Outcomes

SOL DU does not organise formal campus placement drives. It serves students such as working professionals, homemakers, rural learners and candidates who cannot attend regular college. The main value comes from its University of Delhi affiliation, because the degree issuing authority is the same as DU's regular colleges.

Alumni and stakeholder reports show SOL DU graduates moving into these career paths:

• Government Services (UPSC, SSC, State PSC): Many BA, B.Com and BMS graduates prepare for civil services, SSC and state government competitive examinations. The DU degree is accepted for government recruitment notifications.
• Banking and Insurance: Exams conducted by IBPS, SBI, RBI and LIC accept SOL DU degrees on the same basis as regular DU degrees. BBA, BMS and M.Com graduates often apply for banking exams.
• Education Sector: MA graduates can apply for B.Ed, subject to DU and NCTE eligibility. They may also apply for TGT/PGT school teaching posts if they meet the relevant state board rules.
• Private Employment: SOL DU is recognised under Association of Indian Universities (AIU) equivalency. Employers in accounting, administration, retail and IT support roles accept SOL DU BA, B.Com and BBA degrees.

SOL DU Rankings

SOL DU is a constituent school of the University of Delhi. Since the degree is awarded by DU, the parent university's ranking and recognition matter for SOL DU students too.

University of Delhi has NAAC A++ Grade, which is the highest NAAC assessment tier. NIRF 2025 placed DU at Rank 5 in the University category, its best position so far in that category. SOL DU degrees carry the full University of Delhi seal and are treated as equivalent to regular DU college degrees by government bodies, banking regulators and universities across India.

SOL DU Scholarships

SOL DU students can apply for fee concessions and government scholarship schemes during admission and while studying in the programme.

SC/ST fee concession at SOL DU follows University of Delhi norms and is one of the stronger fee support systems in government universities in India. Because SOL DU base fees are already low, the final cost for SC/ST students can be close to zero for BA and B.Com programmes.

SOL DU Study Centres and Learning Mode

SOL DU mainly teaches through correspondence, and printed study material is mailed to enrolled students. Students also get online learning resources on the COL portal. Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) take place at selected study centres in Delhi for practical work and interaction. For some courses, attending PCPs is compulsory.

The main administrative office is at the Campus of Open Learning (COL), North Delhi, University of Delhi. DU conducts examinations at its regular examination centres across India, so SOL DU students can use a wider exam network. Students living outside Delhi may also enrol and appear for exams at the nearest DU examination centre available to them.

The online mode under CDOE lets enrolled students access course material, submit assignments and check their performance through the student portal. This mix of correspondence and online learning helps working professionals, students in remote areas and candidates who cannot move to Delhi.

SOL DU vs IGNOU vs Annamalai University Distance

For distance UG and PG study in arts, commerce or management, students often compare SOL DU with IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) and Annamalai University's Distance Education Division. All three have UGC-DEB approval and offer recognised distance degrees at affordable fees.

SOL DU has strong degree brand value because it awards a University of Delhi degree. IGNOU costs much less, offers many more programmes and has a large pan-India study centre network, so it is easier for students outside Delhi. Annamalai University Distance is often chosen by working professionals in South India who want a low-cost recognised degree without moving. IGNOU's MBA is the lowest-cost professional degree among these three and costs much less than the SOL DU MBA.
