NIFT Mumbai offers UG and PG courses in fashion design and technology. The candidates who have passed 10+2 in any stream can apply for the UG Programs offered by NIFT Mumbai. The selection to the UG programs is based on the entrance exam (GAT and CAT) followed by a Situation Test. For admission in PG Courses, the candidates should be graduates to be eligible to apply and the selection is based on the performance in GD and PI.

NIFT Mumbai UG Courses Eligibility 2024

B.Des.: The candidates seeking admission to the B.Des. program must have completed their 10+2 in any stream from a recognized board of education. The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in their last qualifying exam.
B.F.Tech: The candidates must have completed 10+2 with Maths and Science as compulsory subjects in classes 11th and 12^th;to be eligible.
The candidates seeking admission to UG programs must be below 23 years. The relaxation of the age limit of 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD.

NIFT Mumbai UG Courses Selection Criteria 2024

For admission to B.Des. the candidates need to appear for CAT or GAT exams as the scores of both are accepted for selecting the candidates.
For admission to B.F.Tech the candidates are required to have appeared for the GAT entrance exam.
NIFT releases cut-offs for the NIFTs located in different cities. The candidates who appear in the merit list of their desired NIFT can proceed further with the application.

NIFT Mumbai PG Courses Eligibility 2024

M.Des.:;The candidates must have completed B.Des. from NIFT or a relevant degree from a recognized institute. The candidates are also required to have appeared for the GAT entrance exam to be eligible.
M.F.M.: Candidates seeking admission to an M.F.M. degree must have completed their UG degree in any discipline from any institute recognized by law in India or they must have a UG diploma of three years obtained from NIFT/NID. Apart from the educational qualification, the candidates must have a valid GAT score to be eligible.
M.F.Tech.: The candidates must have completed B.F.Tech. from NIFT or relevant from a recognized institute. The candidates should have a valid GAT entrance exam score to be eligible.

NIFT Mumbai PG Courses Selection Criteria 2024

The selection of the candidates for PG courses is based on a written test and GD/interview.
The candidates appear for the entrance exams: CAT (creative ability test) and GAT (general ability test). The candidates who qualify for written tests are invited for the GD and interview.
The foreign nationals are selected for PG courses based on the GMAT score.

NIFT: A fashion experience that is worth it or not?

Remarks:

The main reason that made choose this college was it being a fashion college being situated very near to Mumbai:The city of dreams and home to many fashion brands and film industry. Mumbai is a hub for fashion lovers and creators, thus I chose to opt for this college expecting more exposure than any other campus of NIFT.

What I Liked

Found some really fun and bright minded people here who fueled my passion and helped me move forward
Gave me more exposure towards fashion which no other college can give

What I didn’t like

Very boring crowd and students and very boring events
Very small campus with not much area to spend time in

Remarks:

We had to go through an entrance exam and a studio test to get in. Mumbai was the best college I was getting so I took it.there is no cut off or anything as such, selection is based on ranks. And then u can choose whatever campus and course u want based on availability of ur rank

Nift Mumbai overview

What I Liked

Faculty is good for my fc department they are very supportive and understanding
Campus life is very fun and crazy you’ll make good friends and learn a lot

What I didn’t like

Infrastructure is not good the campus is very small and it’s called nift Mumbai but it’s in Navi Mumbai which is 1 hour away from Mumbai
Also the college attendance rule is very strict which is very unfair like you can’t force someone to come college it’s very stressful too sometimes to maintain that zero point one percent attendance too

Remarks:

Admission process is very easy going getting that NIFT tag means something for this industry that’s why I chose this college rather than going to any private college fees in nift is quite much but it’s less than any other private college it you see

What I Liked

the course curriculum and opportunities given by college is just so fabulous. also, the environment of college is very friendly whether it's our senior, our professors or our batchmates, no one is judgmental here at all, and there is strictly no ragging here rather seniors become friends with us and are very sweet.
the weather outside and the surrounding of our colleges is also very calming and refreshing, the scenes of mountains with frequent rains keep the college lively and fresh.

What I didn’t like

I don't like the timing of our college which is like corporate time that is 9 to 5. sometimes it becomes very exhausting for us.
I don't like the college stationary situated inside the college only. despite of being aware of our expensive and frequent purchasing, they sell the item at high prices which I don't feel is the genuine amount.

Remarks:

i was always passionate about design and nift as NIFT is the premium pioneer in fashion college in india. the good aspects of college is that it refines your work and makes you professional in your work. we have 2 rounds of entrance test namely CAT+GAT(written aptitude and drawing exam) and he students who clear the first round are allowed to sit for 2nd round that 3D Model making and creative wrtiting exam. after this results are declared where aspirants with good ranks go for counciling and get admitted. the cut off is never officially declared but it is said to score above 75-80 for good campuses. masters students are asked for GD/PI.

Life at nift mumbai

What I Liked

Campus life at nift mumbai is truly amazing.
Faculty here is highly qualified and helpful as well.

What I didn’t like

Assignments are a little pressurising sometimes.
Minimum attendance is 75% that you have to maintain throughout.

Remarks:

I wanted to do something related to apparel and textiles and I got to know about this course through the official website of NIFT. Yes for admission in BFTech, there is a written exam, GAT including 150 questions, and for BDes, there are 3 parts: GAT, CAT, and situation test.
