Gauhati Medical College Details

What I Liked

Digital classroom available with smart board, centralized AC.
Faculties are dedicated and try to make us understand most of the topics

What I didn’t like

A large playground for cricket , football tournaments is required
Maintainance should be increased and in a planned manner

Placement Experience:

Duration of Internship is 1 year. Students have to do Internship after passing 9th semester. After doing internship, 1 year rural posting under national health Mission is compulsory. All the students after completion of internship are alloted as government funded doctor.

Remarks:

•This college is situated at the heart of the Assam i.e. Guwahati, the capital city of Assam having proper infrastructure, high patient load , good communication. Also, the faculties available are dedicated and classroom are equipped with smart board, centralized AC.

Premier medical institute of the North East

What I Liked

Faculties, patient load, bedside clinical postings and the best location in the centre of the city
Active extra curricular sports activities and clubs

What I didn’t like

Proper canteen with a more diverse menu
More number sports facilities and clubs

Placement Experience:

MBBS graduate gets 100% placement opportunity firstly under the college as internship and then as the National health mission of one year compulsory rural posting. After that multiple doors are open for an mbbs graduate to practise or enroll into Postgraduation

Remarks:

The sole reason is ofcourse being the premier medical institution of our North East. With ample patient load, best bedside clinical classes. Exposures in the hospital level to various departments. Also the availability of state of art infrastructure and also being so culturally sound.

GMCH: The Hilltop Med School

What I Liked

College buildings cover a large area. So it has a open campus.
Is located in the heart of the city. All the shopping areas are nearby.
The new hospitals constructed have world class facilities
Patient load is immense here. So MBBS students get all types of cases

What I didn’t like

No campus life. GMCH doesn't have an enclosed campus
No centralised AC in old hospital. So students feel very hot during summers wearing apron.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS course is very vast. You can expect rigorous and tiring schedules, exams, less holidays. GMCH is one of the oldest medical colleges in the state of Assam and has maintained its legacy of 64 years.

Remarks:

I chose GMCH Guwahati in the NEET online Counselling after clearing the required cut off and securing a decent rank in the NEET exam. The college is located in the heart of the city, all the shopping malls, restaurants, movie theaters are nearby.

Gauhati medical College in a nutshell

What I Liked

Infrastructure is too notch with State of art instruments present
Faculty are highly qualified and are the top doctors of the state

What I didn’t like

Campus life is sometimes monotonous because of hectic life in the college
Gym facilities can be improved as they are not up to date.

Placement Experience:

Everyone gets a placement in medical colleges unlike other college. Everyone have to do internship for a year and then tural posting. Average package is around 3.5 lpa for everyone. After getting the degree one can choose for specialisation.

Remarks:

It is the top institute in the state for medical science. Admission is based on marks on neet and the cut off changes every year. For preparation one have to prepare along with their school curriculum only

About Gauhati Medical College

What I Liked

Exposure to patients and the shear amount of experience one can gain by being here
Being closer to the city, it is one of the most easily accessible college for studying medicine

What I didn’t like

The amount of stress that gets put into its students. Asking students to do hardwork doesn't needs the necessity of putting them under stress
The college has a good infrastructure but lacks the kind of maintenance required to keep it to the top standards

Placement Experience:

MBBS course students, especially the ones like us who are enrolled on government colleges don't find it difficult to get jobs. In fact, under the course itself, one gets to do a year of internship in their respective college paying them around? 35000 to? 45000 monthly

Remarks:

One has to appear NEET to secure a seat into MBBS and has to score the best score in the tnorth-east to get into Gauhati Medical College. I chose it best because it's one of the best colleges in the country and also the factory that it's the closest government college near my home
