AMC Dibrugarh Admission Process

Admission is based on the entrance test and counselling route assigned to each programme. MBBS applicants use NEET UG, MD and MS applicants use NEET PG, and candidates for DM or M.Ch must qualify through NEET SS.

MBBS Admission

The MBBS intake is 200 seats. DME Assam fills the 85% state quota, while MCC handles the 15% All India Quota.

  1. Applicants must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The required aggregate is 50% for the General category and 40% for SC, ST and OBC categories.
  2. The student must be at least 17 years old on December 31 of the admission year and must qualify NEET UG.
  3. For a state quota seat, the NEET UG score must be submitted through the DME Assam portal. Assam domicile is compulsory for this quota.
  4. DME Assam verifies documents before candidates complete online choice filling.
  5. Selected students receive an allotment and must report to the college to finish admission.

In the 2024 first counselling round, the General category closing rank was 12,025 under AIQ and 21,146 under the state quota.

MD / MS Admission

NEET PG rank decides selection for the 15 MD subjects and five MS surgical specialisations. Half of the seats fall under AIQ and the other 50% form the state quota managed by DME Assam.

  1. A candidate needs an MBBS degree with at least 55% aggregate in the final-year examinations.
  2. The compulsory 1-year rotating internship must be completed before the PG course begins.
  3. Applicants qualify through NEET PG and enter the merit list according to their rank.
  4. Counselling is conducted by MCC for AIQ seats or DME Assam for state quota seats.

DM / M.Ch and Allied Health Programmes

Entry to DM Cardiology and M.Ch in Paediatric Surgery or Plastic Surgery requires the relevant MD or MS qualification, a NEET SS score and MCC counselling. Assam Nursing Council manages nursing selection, while DME Assam handles diploma admissions. These programmes use 10+2 merit and the applicable state-level selection process.

AMC Dibrugarh does not follow the standard campus placement model used by many non-medical colleges. Graduates commonly move into postgraduate education, government healthcare service or private clinical practice.

NEET PG preparation for an MD or MS seat is a common choice after MBBS. Another important route is employment in Assam government health facilities, including services connected with healthcare expansion in Upper Assam and the Brahmaputra valley.
