The internship is mandatory for 1 year and after that, we have a mandatory 1-year rural bond where we have to serve in a PHC. The stipend during internship is around 35000 and stays about the same during the rural service. After MBBS you can either join PG or other jobs. The salary will depend upon your specialization.

Remarks:

Well to start, you need to clear your NEET exam. There are no further written tests or interviews after NEET. That's the only way of entry. I got into AMC in 2021 and during that time the cutoff was around 550 for unreserved for the state quota and 610 for the All India counselling. But the way the cutoff has skyrocketed in the last couple of years I feel 640 will be the cutoff this year for state quota and for AIQ I don't know how to put it. If you are checking the reviews, then you have made it so congratulations and welcome to AMC.

Placement Experience:

No such placement happens in our degree. After completing 4 years of MBBS all have to go for 1 year of internship in the college itself. A stipend of around 35k is given Maximum of the students go for internship after completing the degree.Internship helps us to gain practical knowledge for future emergencies and make us realize which department we want to go to for PG. After the internship, we have to do 1yr compulsory rural posting for which a stipend of around 40k is given. After rural posting, we have to crack the NEET PG exam, and based on our rank we get our departments for further studies and practice.

Remarks:

Why I chose this college has many reasons, reputation was a factor and this is a very old college so the patient load, campus life, etc. will be better than a newly opened college. The pride that this college brings to your name is unmatched. To do MBBS or BDS in this college u have to take a new UG exam which is conducted Every year. There are not many bad aspects about this college. The campus is good, hostels are good, hostel food is good. The lecture halls are nice.

Placement Experience:

The college provides a one year internship with a salary of Rs32000 per month. It is under the Assam government. After completing the internship we have to do a one year rural job under the NRHM scheme with a salary of the same range. However after that we can fo higher studies or work as a medical officer also.

Remarks:

The college is the pioneer of all the medical colleges of the Northeast India. Being one of its kind, it is one of the most prestigious colleges in the region. The college is situated in the Dibrugarh district, in the plains of Assam and on the banks of the river Brahmaputra. Geographical accessibility is one of the main factors that made me opt for the college. Moreover, there is easy public transport facilities both within and outside the college. All these made me to choose the college. I cleared the NEET UG examination to get admission into the college. The cut-off goes very high every year and with the increasing number of students. Currently, it is around 580+ for general students.

Remarks:

Assam Medical College has always been the most reputed medical College in the entire northeast India. Here, all the professors and the doctors are well-experienced. Being the oldest medical College to be established in Assam the equipment needed for some complicated surgeries is present which helps the students to gain proper practical knowledge. Being a sports enthusiast I was impressed by seeing the amount of opportunities the students get to showcase their talent. Our college has a big field with flood lights, a volleyball court, a lawn tennis court, and well well-equipped gym.No such bad aspects but the emergency department is a bit unorganized. Serious patients have to run for CT scans, and x-rays to another dept which makes it cumbersome. Admission was on semi- online mode, we had to crack the NEET UG exam to get admission such interviews were taken but physical tests were done at the time of admission.I prepared for my exam by properly studying my Ph.D. phy, chem & bio and taking 1yr offline coaching.

Placement Experience:

After the final year, we are placed to work as an intern in the hospital itself. Interns are posted at various departments where they have to perform the activities of a doctor and we are made ready for actual patient interaction during this time. The stipend for interns in Assam is about approx. 36000 . The internship is a necessary part of MBBS since only after this students receive their provisional registration number under the State Medical Council to practice as a doctor. After the internship, I had to work in a rural Primary Health Centre for a year since I signed a bond during my admission to serve a year of rural posting. During this time you are appointed as a Medical Office under the National Health Mission. After this, I plan to take my Neet -pg entrance examination for a postgraduate seat. All the students in MBBS go through this process and you almost have a guaranteed job after the course. Further progress depends on one's own needs and aspirations.

Remarks:

The reputation of being the oldest and most renowned medical college in Assam made me opt for the college. I gave the exam of NEET and during this time, I consulted my seniors in school who were already doctors about the type of college to join and they strongly suggested AMC. After the results were given, my marks were 498 in 2020 and after online counseling, I was allowed Assam Medical College under the SC category. The admission process was quite smooth, it was the post-COVID phase so the admission was done following the guidelines. We arrived on the campus and the admission started in the grand Dr.John Berry White Auditorium where our names were called and our documents were checked. We were allotted hostels the next day and I got Dr.Sarita Toshniwal Ladies Hostel. The hostel is one of the best on the campus since it is a comparatively new building and my roommate, who was a third-year student at that time was very welcoming. Overall, it's been almost four years and AMC has been a home.

An internship of 1 year is given after completing MBBS. As such no campus placements happen. You get placements in different departments for which a stipend of around 35k monthly is given to every student. After 1year of internship, we have to go for rural posting for one year for which a stipend of 40k monthly is given after which we have to crack the NEET PG exam for placement in our dream department.

Remarks:

factors for choosing this college At first, Assam Medical College is the first medical College to be established in Assam and the whole of North East India. Therefore the reputation of this college is incomparable. Many experienced doctors are here and learning from them has always been my dream. Being an AMCian is always a matter of pride here in Assam and North East. To get admission we have to crack for NEET-UG entrance exam. Our admission procedure was semi-online mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such no interviews were taken, only some tests were done by various departments. Our college's good aspects include-lecture halls with all necessities, seminar hall, CME's. Many extracurricular activities like sports week, cultural week, and literature week are also held to give the students opportunities. The campus is very safe and student-friendly including good infrastructure hostels. Not such bad aspects of this college. I prepared myself for NEET UG by properly studying and taking 1 year of coaching.

There is no problem regarding job opportunities in mbbs. You will have to do paid internship in our own college. Government of assam pay around 36000/month for compulsory internship year. After that everyone have to one year rural posting in PHCs of Assam as a medical officer. After that one can apply for PG programmes.

Remarks:

Like any other medical college in India, you have to clear NEET to enter into AMCH. As per cutoff is concerned, now a days it is around 580-590 out of 720. In NEET 2020 it was 557 for the general category. I have chosen this college because it is the oldest medical college in the entire northeastern region. It has a tremendous patients load which is basically a good factor for medical students to learn about all kinds of diseases and have a hands-on experience in managing those disease that occurs in this part of the country. Also, AMCH has a big playground and is known to hold a strong position in cultural events among colleges of Assam. All these things made me choose this college over other medical colleges in Assam

For placement, you have to pass the Final MBBS exam and complete your internship. Since it is a medical College we can say placement is 100%. The salary depends on the job you are pursuing, you can opt Post graduation or Medical Officer.

Remarks:

Assam Medical College has an incredible alumni network in itself. One of my relatives who himself was an alumnus of this college suggested I opt for this college for its quality education and State of the art facilities along with its rich historical heritage. Currently, it is following the latest comprehensive Competency-based medical education (CBME) which correctly interrelates the theoretical and practical aspects of medicine. AMCH is also surrounded by natural beauty all around and is located in the "Tea City of Assam". AMCH is quite different from the new colleges in the state in terms of infrastructure, and faculty experience. It is well endowed with ample space for co-curricular activities with its own football ground, volleyball ground, own gym, outdoor park, amphitheater, and many more. I don't find any bad aspects about my college as it is well endowed with all facilities and provides a diverse range of clinical exposure and hands-on experience in learning.
