IGMC - The land of Snowdonians

What I Liked

Faculty and Campus life The overall vibe here is very great.
The overall campus life in faculty is very good. Faculty is very much experienced and their teachers. Very well. The practical demonstration on patients are really key aspect in the modern medicine to learn the core concept of Medicine. This thing is quite done here as it is the number one college of the state, so many patient came here for checkup, thus making the overall exposure to the patient very great and making the learning Interesting.

What I didn’t like

Infrastructure and they take frequent exams
The overall infrastructure is not good as compare to other colleges. It lacks basic facilities like availability of ground and also they keep on taking frequent exams every now and then we have exams and ward leaves and it can be stressful quite a lot of time

Placement Experience:

Internship one year with stipend of 20000 per month. Since this is a medical college, there are no recruiters that come to place our students. This is just a mandatory internship which happens in the Indira Gandhi medical College and its associated hospitals like Kamla Nehru hospitals, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, CHC Mashobra and urban health training Centre Baluganj.

Internships Opportunities:

One year mandatory internship at IGMC SHIMLA. The mainly the task in the internship is to work in a healthcare team under the guidance of senior faculty and to learn how the modern system of (Medicine) works also to do minor surgical procedure.

Review of IGMC shimla (Indira Gandhi medical College Shimla)

What I Liked

I like the faculty and their experience which improves their way of teaching, though the infrastructure is a bit old but still it does not hamper your learning, campus life is great if you will have a good company
If you are not afraid of cold and walking great distances then it is a great College for you. You will not regret choosing this college after you degree

What I didn’t like

Infrastructure is a bit old As shimla is a hilly area, so it is a very conjusted city and the space for the campus is less.
The college and hostel buildings are at a considerable distance from each other. City of Shimla has a unpredictable weather and it can rain anytime, so you have to have an umbrella handy with you. All the best for your future

Placement Experience:

As in MBBS, internship is compulsory and during internship you get a stipend of Rs. 20000 per month After MBBS you can opt for govt or private job or you can go for PG exams Almost all of the MBBS students who are passouts of this college does great in their lives and become great doctors further on.

Internships Opportunities:

As mentioned above internship is compulsory for the completion of degree. And in all the govt. medical colleges in the state of HP the stipend during internship is Rs.20000 per month. The good thing about IGMC shimla is that the high patient input in the hospital will introduce you the rare cases early on your career which will help you in your next step after MBBS. You learn a lot about handling if patients during your internship
