GMCH Chandigarh Admission Dates 2026

NEET UG 2026 scores determine MBBS admission for 2026-27. MCC handles the All India Quota, while DGHS Chandigarh manages the UT quota. MD and MS applicants are admitted through NEET PG 2026 and the relevant counselling process.

GMCH Chandigarh Courses and Fees

Students can study medical, surgical, super-speciality, paramedical and research programmes at GMCH Chandigarh. As a Union Territory government institution, it follows regulated fees that are among the lowest in India. The 4.5-year MBBS course has a total programme fee of INR 1.25 Lakhs.

MBBS students pay INR 25,000 per year and a one-time refundable security deposit of INR 10,000. Hostel charges are separate. UG accommodation costs INR 13,500 to INR 19,700 per year, while PG residents pay INR 21,600 per year. Including hostel expenses, the full 4.5-year MBBS cost is INR 2 to INR 2.5 Lakhs, placing GMCH Chandigarh among India's most affordable highly ranked medical colleges.

GMCH Chandigarh Admission Process

MBBS seats are divided between the All India Quota managed by MCC and the Chandigarh UT quota administered by DGHS Chandigarh. Admission depends on the applicable entrance score, counselling registration, rank and seat availability.

MBBS Admission

• Eligibility: Applicants must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. General and OBC applicants need at least 50%, while SC and ST applicants need 40%. The minimum admission age is 17 years.
• Entrance exam: Applicants must take NEET UG, conducted by NTA.
• All India Quota cutoff: The 2025 General category closing rank was 690, making admission through AIQ highly competitive.
• UT quota: These seats are restricted to Chandigarh domicile applicants. The closing ranks are higher than those for AIQ, so admission is possible at a lower NEET score.

MD and MS Admission

Applicants need an MBBS degree from an MCI or NMC-recognised institution and must finish their compulsory rotating internship before joining. NEET PG, conducted by NTA, is the qualifying examination. MCC conducts counselling for 50% of the AIQ PG seats, and DGHS Chandigarh handles the remaining 50% state PG seats. Speciality allotment is based on rank.

DM and Super-Speciality Admission

Admission to DM programmes in Cardiology, Neonatology, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is through NEET SS, the Super Speciality examination conducted by NTA. Applicants must hold the required MD or MS degree in a related speciality. Each speciality generally has only 2 to 6 seats.

Allied Health and Paramedical UG Admission

GMCH admits students to B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Medical Laboratory Science, B.Optom, and B.Sc Radiology through its merit list or state paramedical counselling. Applicants must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and secure at least 45% aggregate marks. Government medical college-attached institutes are increasingly using NEET UG merit for these admissions.

GMCH Chandigarh Cutoff

The General category All India Quota cutoff is more competitive than the Chandigarh UT quota cutoff. The UT quota is available only to eligible domicile applicants and closes at a higher rank, which means a lower NEET score may secure a seat.

Their annual hostel fee is INR 13,500 to INR 19,700. Most PG residents receive single-occupancy rooms for INR 21,600 per year. Other campus facilities include a library, auditorium, sports grounds and canteen.

GMCH Chandigarh Scholarships

Eligible GMCH Chandigarh students may apply for central government and Chandigarh Administration support through the National Scholarship Portal and UT government scholarship programmes.

Because the regulated MBBS tuition fee is INR 25,000 per year, living and hostel costs form a larger part of a student's expenses.
