AEC Asansol Admission Process
Admission to B.Tech at AEC is based on WBJEE or JEE Main merit and is handled through WBJEEB centralised counselling. The college does not hold a separate entrance test for B.Tech. Seats in MAKAUT-affiliated colleges, including AEC, are allotted as per WBJEE rank, while JEE Main scores are considered for a limited number of seats through the same counselling system.
| Programme | Exam Accepted | Admission Route |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech (4 years) | WBJEE / JEE Main | WBJEEB Centralised Counselling |
| B.Tech Lateral Entry (3 years) | WBJEE (JELET) | WBJEEB Lateral Counselling |
| M.Tech | GATE / WBUT PGET | WBJEEB PG Counselling |
| MCA | WB JECA | WBJEEB MCA Counselling |
| BCA / BBA / BHM / B.Sc | No entrance exam | Direct merit-based application to AEC |
B.Tech Eligibility
- Students must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, or Electronics as the third subject
- The required aggregate in the qualifying subjects is 45%, while SC/ST candidates under West Bengal reservation norms need 40%
- A valid WBJEE 2026 rank or JEE Main 2026 Paper-1 score is required
- Students from the West Bengal state board and recognised national boards can apply
M.Tech, MCA, and Non-Engineering Admission
For M.Tech, AEC accepts GATE or WBUT PGET through WBJEEB PG counselling. MCA admission is based on WB JECA score. BCA, BBA, B.Sc Data Science, and BHM seats are filled through direct merit-based applications to AEC, and these non-engineering courses do not need an entrance exam.
AEC Asansol Cutoff
For General Merit candidates, AEC Asansol CSE has usually closed between 15,000 and 30,000 in WBJEE. IT and ECE generally have higher closing ranks, which means they are slightly less competitive than CSE. Newer branches such as AI and ML and IoT and Cyber Security may show changing cutoffs because they are recent additions.
AEC Asansol Placements
AEC Asansol placed 427 students in the 2024-25 placement season. The highest package stood at INR 11.5 LPA, and the average package was INR 4 LPA. More than 250 companies took part in the campus recruitment process.
