Coimbatore Marine College was established in the year 2001. At first, it was named Coimbatore Marine Centre and then renamed Coimbatore Marine College in the year 2003.

Coimbatore Marine College was approved by The Director General of Shipping, Government of India. CMC is Ranked A1 Grade in CIP (Comprehensive Inspection Programme) by The Indian Registry of Shipping. Certified by “Bureau Veritas Premier Marine Institute”. Coimbatore Marine College has three other groups of Institutions located in Mangalore, Coimbatore, Chennai. 

The Coimbatore Marine College has a campus of 10 acres, including a spacious ground for outdoor and indoor sports, all the essential amenities like cricket, basketball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, and carom are available. Physical training at the swimming pool and in the gym are available. The college has a prototype ship on campus for training marine engineers called ‘TS Clarissa’. Captains and Chief Engineers are provided for Theoretical and Practical training classes at the college. To create a better understanding of the subjects the students were provided with all modern teaching equipment such as LCD projectors, a well-equipped computer lab, marine lab for practical training, Engineering-related laboratories, and workshops are also available. The Library of Coimbatore Marine College consists of more collections of Marine and Engineering books, magazines, and publications. Coimbatore Marine College has proved Hostel accommodations for both male and female students.
