Formerly known as Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Divyangjan Kanpur was established in 1997. The AICTE approved institute was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh with an aim to impart technical education. Undergraduate courses at AITD Kanpur are open to non-disabled and disabled people both, while diploma courses are exclusively for persons with disabilities.
 

AITD Kanpur BTech is offered in six specialisations: Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, and Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning). Candidates, who or whose parents are domicile of U.P. state only, except for NRI, foreign national, and persons of Indian origin are eligible to apply. Admissions are based on the candidate’s 10+2 scores, along with JEE Mains rank. 420 seats is the total intake of this program. The total fees for the four-year program is Rs 2.87 Lakhs.
