Harcourt Butler Technological University, established in 1921, is AICTE and NBA approved. It is also NAAC accredited. The university offers a range of programs in Engineering, Science and Management. HBTU Kanpur admissions are based on national entrance exams, like JEE Mains, UPSEE, GATE, and NIMCET. For 2024, HBTU Kanpur has been ranked at 10 for BTech. Outlook and India Today have ranked the university for BTech at 23, respectively.
 

BTech, offered in 13 specialisations, is the flagship course of this university. To join this program, the candidate must have completed 10+2. They should have 55% marks in total, with Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects. Selection of eligible candidates is done based on JEE Mains Rank, followed by university-held counselling. They allot seats strictly based on merit. The total intake of this course is 765 seats. The total fees of this four-year program is Rs 5.25 Lakhs.

The Tuition Fee Waiver is for poor, deserving candidates in all B.Tech. programmes. programs, up to 5% of the approved intake, on a supernumerary basis. The university will exempt these candidates from paying only the tuition fee. Additionally, the institution grants two full fee waiver seats to SC/ST girls in each B.Tech. program, based on merit. Full fee waiver will be granted, only after admission.

HBTU Kanpur Placement Statistics for 2024 have not been released yet. However, Placement Drive 2023 witnessed the overall placement percentage at 84.02%. The highest CTC offered was INR 36 LPA, while the average package was recorded at INR 9LPA. Top firms like Accenture, Cognizant, and Coca-Cola offered 484 jobs. So did Pepsico, Infosys, DLF, Volkswagen, and BNY Mellon.
