IET Lucknow Courses and Fees

IET Lucknow offers B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA and PhD courses through its 8 engineering and technology departments. As the institute follows a government-regulated fee structure, its fees are lower than many private engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh offering similar courses.

The B.Tech course has 360 seats across seven branches. Artificial Intelligence is a newer B.Tech specialisation. M.Tech is offered in seven specialisations, including AI and Data Science and Power and Energy System Engineering.

IET Lucknow Admission Process

IET Lucknow does not offer direct admission through a separate college-level process. Seats are filled through UPTAC counselling on the basis of national entrance exam scores. The institute does not have management quota or NRI quota seats.

B.Tech Admission

For B.Tech, IET Lucknow uses only JEE Main rank through UPTAC state counselling. CSE and ECE are among the most preferred branches. For JEE Main 2026, the General category CSE closing rank under the Home State quota is expected to fall in the range of 40,000 to 47,400.

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST)
• Entrance: Valid JEE Main score from Session 1 or Session 2 of 2026
• Counselling: Register at uptac.samarth.edu.in, add IET Lucknow and preferred branches, lock choices and wait for allotment
• Quota: UP domicile students apply under Home State quota, and All India quota seats are also offered
• After allotment: Visit IET Lucknow for document verification with Class 10, Class 12 and JEE Main score card, then pay the admission fee

M.Tech Admission

M.Tech admission is done through UPTAC counselling using a valid GATE score or CUET PG score. GATE is preferred. GATE-qualified M.Tech students receive the AICTE scholarship of INR 12,400 per month during the course.

• Eligibility: B.Tech in a relevant engineering branch with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST)
• Entrance: GATE score (preferred) or CUET PG score in the relevant subject
• Process: UPTAC M.Tech counselling through uptac.samarth.edu.in

MBA and MCA Admission

MBA and MCA admissions at IET Lucknow are completed through UPTAC using CUET PG scores. For MBA, CAT and MAT scores are also accepted. Since IET Lucknow is a government institute, the MBA and MCA fees are much lower than many private institutes in Lucknow.

• MBA eligibility: Graduation in any stream with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) + CUET PG or CAT or MAT
• MCA eligibility: Graduation with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level, at least 50% marks + CUET PG
• Both programmes: UPTAC counselling after the result is announced

IET Lucknow Placements

IET Lucknow recorded 518 student placements in the 2025 placement season, with 90+ companies taking part. The highest offer reached INR 54 LPA, and the average package was INR 7 LPA. The UG median package reported in NIRF 2025 was INR 6.15 LPA.

TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Intuit, Meesho and ServiceNow are among the major recruiters at IET Lucknow. CSE and ECE usually see the best placement rates and packages. Mechanical and Civil students get opportunities in both core sectors and higher studies, while many graduates also prepare for UPSC, GATE and PSU exams.

IET Lucknow Rankings

IET Lucknow appears in the NIRF rankings and is placed in the 101-150 band among engineering institutes in India in NIRF 2025. The institute has appeared in the NIRF Engineering rankings in multiple years.

IET Lucknow is a government autonomous constituent college of AKTU and is among the stronger AKTU-linked engineering institutions in Uttar Pradesh by NIRF ranking. In IIRF 2026, it is also placed at #11 in Uttar Pradesh among engineering colleges.

IET Lucknow Scholarships

IET Lucknow students can use central government scholarships, AICTE schemes and state government scholarships through the Uttar Pradesh scholarship portal.

The AICTE GATE scholarship of INR 12,400 per month can cover most of the M.Tech fee and living cost at IET Lucknow for GATE-qualified students. Applications for UP scholarships are submitted through the UP government scholarship portal with an Aadhaar-linked bank account.

IET Lucknow Campus and Infrastructure

IET Lucknow has a 100-acre campus in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The campus includes all eight engineering and technology departments, a central library, computer labs, specialised research labs, a sports complex and residential facilities.

The institute offers hostel accommodation for 2,000 students through 11 hostels. These include 8 boys’ hostels and 3 girls’ hostels. The annual hostel fee is INR 14,500 for both boys and girls. The campus also hosts the cultural festival Encore and the technical festival Parakram, with participation from institutions across northern India.

The institute has added a Green Hydrogen Research Centre and an Electric Vehicle Technology Centre as part of its research infrastructure. Its central library has technical books, journals and digital databases for the eight engineering disciplines taught at the institute.

IET Lucknow vs HBTU Kanpur vs MMMUT Gorakhpur

Students looking at government technical institutes in Uttar Pradesh often compare IET Lucknow with Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur and Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur. These three government engineering institutions serve different regions of the state.

HBTU Kanpur is older, has a larger campus and usually has higher JEE cutoffs, so many top JEE Main rankers in Uttar Pradesh prefer it first. IET Lucknow has the advantage of being in Lucknow, the state capital, with links in IT and services. MMMUT Gorakhpur is a common choice for students from eastern Uttar Pradesh.
