Review of DY Patil School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics

What I Liked

The seniors of the college are very motivating and enthusiastic about fests and cc activities.
The curriculum is very diverse and we get to learn about other streams relevant to our degree which is very interesting

What I didn’t like

Thee campus of the college is very subpar is not comparable to the main campus in Nerul
The faculty did not finish the syllabus on time resulting in a postpone of semester final exams into semester 2.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as i have deeply love biology and also love technology. The faculty has doctorates and masters in their respective fields. The term exams were not timely at all and caused a lot of confusion and stress to all the first semester students and did not give us a great start to our college life.

Placement Experience:

The placements and job opportunities are said to be great as almost everyone who has graduated from this college has a received a job. The curriculum also mandates interning in the 7th and 8th semester which is a great thing The highest package is 40 lakhs per annum my plan after the degree is to go abroad and to my masters in biotechnology or an MBA

What I Liked

The faculty is very helpful and projects taking place are great for future aspects.

What I didn’t like

There is no campus and social life no farewell or freshers party as such and placement cell too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Faculty is good and very well informed with the office and the exam cell is very well maintained. The course is taken to get idea how computers can be useful in biology and how much we can understand the biology of our body more accurately with computer and AI

Placement Experience:

Placement cell is average the cell tries to get you place in more of just a data entry or cdm role rather than course related fields . Mostly students have been gone for higher studies for better packages in future

A good college for learning bioinformatics and Data Science

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is great except for 1st year where they include Maths, English, physics and chemistry which are not at all necessary for the course. Faculty for life science is great but for data science, it is so so visiting faculty is also great.

Remarks:

It has good facilities for courses and all the courses have the best lab facilities and software there are no examinations for college admission we can get them directly by showing your board marks or NEET CET certificate.

Is biotechnolgy worth it from Dy Patil university ?

What I Liked

I love the labs and classes here, they are very well-maintained and equipped.
I did my BSc and now doing my MSc from the college just because of the faculty here. They are so amazing and friendly. They help us to grow so much, they give us research papers, and review articles to write from their work for our betterment.

What I didn’t like

I don't like the campus, as it is just a building of 12 floors, there is no ground or anything. All the facilities and infrastructure are available in Nerul campus where they don't have a biotechnology department sadly.
Campus life is non-existent here, few people may have fun but on a larger scale, there are no such activities or cultural programs held.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose biotechnology as the name itself fascinated me with how biology could be integrated with technology and after the covid there is huge scope and demand for biotechnologists globally. Biotechnology has a great scope and it will never end as there are new inventions every day. There are so many problems which can only be solved by biotech. The faculty at Dy are very experienced and they all have a doctorate, with teaching they have much ongoing research going on in the university. they are very friendly and we give feedback to professors at every sem end and it is taken very seriously. About exams, we have 2 midterms and one end sem with 2 practical papers and 4 theory exams every semester. There Is no fee hike, 75000 is a fixed fee for every academic year. I am not sure about the scholarships but students can take up student loans for financial aid.

Placement Experience:

As now I have started my MSc, we have been asked to pay 3500 for the training and placement program. In which they will guide us and train us with mock interviews, resume & profile building. They will provide 2 years of assistance for getting a job after the completion of the degree. we have recruiters from research labs like Aditya Birla and BARC. The starting salary package is low but increases with more research and experience. everyone who takes training gets a job later. I plan to go for higher studies like completing a PhD or an MBA for better opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was good. As that contain all the important subject and the practical labs was too good and the lab have most of the instruments that was need for course. Although the fees is to high and this is no as such scholarship for any students or any category students as it is a deemed university. The faculties are good and friendly and very helpful

Placement Experience:

Placement is not that much great. The placement are not on the point as they told as at the time of admission soo don't trust about there placement part. No as such good companies visit there. We have to apply by our own only
