Is biotechnolgy worth it from Dy Patil university ?

- I love the labs and classes here, they are very well-maintained and equipped.
- I did my BSc and now doing my MSc from the college just because of the faculty here. They are so amazing and friendly. They help us to grow so much, they give us research papers, and review articles to write from their work for our betterment.
Dislikes
- I don't like the campus, as it is just a building of 12 floors, there is no ground or anything. All the facilities and infrastructure are available in Nerul campus where they don't have a biotechnology department sadly.
- Campus life is non-existent here, few people may have fun but on a larger scale, there are no such activities or cultural programs held.
Remarks :
I chose this college because of its excellent biotechnology program. Dy Patil has dedicated a whole school to the biotechnology department, which is rare in India. They have a very well-planned curriculum and their labs are very well equipped. we have all the instruments at our college like chromatography, PCR machines, and highly advanced wet and dry labs. we have a separate bioinformatics lab with all the paid software acquired. The faculty at Dy is very friendly and easily approachable, unlike other universities where you have to make appointments. At Dy, all faculties hold a doctorate. My admission process was online due to COVID-19 it was a very simple interview round and I was granted admission on merit. Our college has a famous Dy Patil stadium where many concerts and sports matches are held. I love this college but yes the Belapur School of Biotechnology has very limited cultural activities, people are not as involved as it is on a very small scale.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose biotechnology as the name itself fascinated me with how biology could be integrated with technology and after the covid there is huge scope and demand for biotechnologists globally. Biotechnology has a great scope and it will never end as there are new inventions every day. There are so many problems which can only be solved by biotech. The faculty at Dy are very experienced and they all have a doctorate, with teaching they have much ongoing research going on in the university. they are very friendly and we give feedback to professors at every sem end and it is taken very seriously. About exams, we have 2 midterms and one end sem with 2 practical papers and 4 theory exams every semester. There Is no fee hike, 75000 is a fixed fee for every academic year. I am not sure about the scholarships but students can take up student loans for financial aid.
Internships Opportunities :
Dy doesn't provide internships, but they have mini-projects and year-long projects as part of the curriculum for students to get real hands-on experience. students often find hands-on training programs which are generally paid, but they develop skills for the future.
Placement Experience :
As now I have started my MSc, we have been asked to pay 3500 for the training and placement program. In which they will guide us and train us with mock interviews, resume & profile building. They will provide 2 years of assistance for getting a job after the completion of the degree. we have recruiters from research labs like Aditya Birla and BARC. The starting salary package is low but increases with more research and experience. everyone who takes training gets a job later. I plan to go for higher studies like completing a PhD or an MBA for better opportunities.
Campus Life :
We have three major events in our college all in January or February. they are species which is the main cultural fest, it's good the student council called Iqlipse nova for the concert last year. then we have Technozar which is the tech fest to show creation and innovations. Then we have a sports fest which is zest with all the sports competitions. Our library is well equipped with all major books and journals. We also have a digital library available to us. There are many clubs to like drama, dance, art and editorials.
Hostel Facilities :
The college doesn't have a hostel facility. Though there are many Pgs and flats to rent in the Belapur area. you can easily find flats at very affordable rates in walking distance from the college. The locality is safe and everything is available here in a span of 2 km. The locality is amazing with all cafes and food joints which are very student pocket-friendly.

It aims at providing placement to students in reputed companies with handsome packages around 80% placement was done in our batch. All the students got chance to prove themselves in campus placements. Companies like Amazon, TCS, IBM, Make my trip, Amazon, flipkart, Infosys, HDFC, ICICI etc. visit the campus offers an average package ranges 3 - 4.5 LPA going on to Highest was 28 - 45 LPA Companies conduct interview sessions, GD, test for selection of students.

Placement was Good as there is a placement cell in the college that looks on managing placement for students by inviting Companies from different sectors Companies like Amazon Deloitte, Accenture, Reliance, HCL, Hyundai, HDFC bank, YES Bank, Axis bank etc. These companies make a number of offers to students offers an average package ranges 3 LPA and highest was 28 - 32 LPA. Companies conduct interview sessions, practical test, GD for selection of students and students needs to qualify all rounds to get selected also Internship opportunities was provided by college to give students practical experience and to give knowledge. i chose computer engineering because i was interested in the technical field and wanted to build my career in engineering. the faculty were qualified and helpful, and their teaching was a mix of thoery ,ppts and practical. term exams were conducted on time and the difficulty was moderate

Placement Experience :
Placement opportunities are not so widely discussed by our faculty. My plan after the program is to appear for ugc net exam and to become an assistant professor. The minimum salary for assistance professor post is approx 35000.

The placements & job opportunities in the campus placements is good in our college like honestly it is good and also it is reason for students to take admission because there are many company coming to college. The average package is around i will say is 4.5lpa of all branches and here ENTC and MECHANICAL branch have more than 96% placement rate The highest package is of 22lpa which was from CS. The ground reality the percentage of students placed from this college is around 70% like the core branches students have higher placement rates and technincal branches placement rate is of around 70%-80% the core branches students also gets placed in tech. The main recruiters are TCS,ESDS,WIPRO,TECH MAHINDRA,INFOSYS,L&T and more. NVIDIA was also there but last year they banned the college because some students cheated in online interview.
An industry focused learning experience

I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
Reality of niat

no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.

The number of companies coming for campus placements go down with each passing year. The companies that do come (TresVista mostly) are quite poor in terms of work ethic and payout methods. This year, around 40-45 students from the graduating batch got campus placement out of the 110-120 that applied.

Psychology as a field is highly recognized and growing sector after the lockdown,people are more focused on mental health,thus bhavans was the best option as they have Psychology department set for almost 20years which makes them more experienced. The teaching method of Dr.kranti Gawali the hod is excellent.
