NIT Nagpur Courses and Fees

All five BE courses at Nagpur Institute of Technology have AICTE approval and RTMNU affiliation. The duration, entry requirements and total fee are the same for each branch.

Students pay INR 1,08,000 annually, or INR 54,000 per semester. This fee falls under the framework of the Maharashtra Fee Regulating Authority. The institution separately decides the fee for the management quota, which covers 20% of seats. Applicants should confirm the current amount through the official institute website or the Maharashtra admission portal.

NIT Nagpur Admission Process

BE selection at NIT Nagpur is based on MHT-CET or JEE Main merit. The college does not hold a separate entrance examination. The DTE Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process, commonly called CAP, fills 65% government-quota seats. The same entrance requirements apply to all five branches.

BE Admission Through CAP, 65% Seats

The CET Cell Maharashtra manages CAP applications through fe2026.mahacet.org. Students can complete the process in the following order:

• Meet the academic requirement: pass 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology. A minimum aggregate of 50% is needed, while reserved-category applicants require 45%.
• Take and qualify for MHT-CET 2026 in the PCM group or JEE Main.
• Register at fe2026.mahacet.org, upload the required documents and pay the application fee of INR 800 for general applicants or INR 600 for reserved-category applicants.
• During option entry, arrange college and branch choices and use DTE Code EN04144 to select NIT Nagpur.
• After provisional allotment, accept the seat online and report to NIT Nagpur within the stated reporting period.

BE Admission Through Management Quota, 20% Seats

The college directly fills management quota seats from applicants who have a valid MHT-CET or JEE Main score.

• Applicants must meet the CAP-level academic condition of 10+2 with PCM and at least 50%, along with a valid MHT-CET or JEE Main result.
• Seat availability and application instructions can be requested from the admission office at info@nit.edu.in.

BE Lateral Entry, Direct Second Year

Engineering diploma holders may seek direct admission to the second year of BE through the DSE CAP route.

• A Diploma in Engineering with at least 50% is required. The minimum is 45% for reserved-category students.
• Applications are handled through the DSE CAP portal at dse2026.mahacet.org.

MHT-CET cutoff percentiles differ by category and engineering branch. Demand generally leads to higher percentiles for CSE and IT, while the cutoffs for Civil and Electrical Engineering are lower.

NIT Nagpur Placements

The institute's Training and Placement Cell manages recruitment drives, internships and employability programmes. Before placement interviews, students receive support with aptitude tests, technical interview preparation and soft-skills development.

According to figures reported by the college, 95% of eligible students are placed and the highest package has reached INR 12 LPA. These figures have not been independently confirmed through NIRF placement data.

Engineering graduates are hired by core-sector employers in the Nagpur and Vidarbha industrial belt, central public sector undertakings and Maharashtra government recruitment through MPSC. IT opportunities mainly come from companies based in Nagpur, Pune and Hyderabad.

NIT Nagpur Rankings

Nagpur Institute of Technology appears in the national NIRF Engineering ranking and is accredited by NAAC. Its latest stated national position is the 201-250 band in NIRF 2025, while its institutional accreditation is an A grade with a CGPA of 3.05.

NIT Nagpur Scholarships

NIT Nagpur students may apply for scholarship programmes offered by the Maharashtra and central governments. Applications go to the relevant government portal rather than directly to the college.

For eligible reserved-category and economically weaker section students, the Maharashtra EBC Freeship and Post-Matric Scholarship can reduce the net annual fee to nil. NIT Nagpur Campus and Infrastructure

Nagpur Institute of Technology occupies a 28-acre site on Katol Road in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Road connections link it with central Nagpur and Nagpur railway junction. Academic facilities include computer, mechanical, civil, electrical and electronics laboratories, along with a central library, seminar halls and an auditorium. Students also have access to a cafeteria.

Outdoor activities are supported by a sports ground, while an indoor sports area is also available. The institute provides hostel accommodation for students from outside Nagpur. Its academic year follows the RTMNU session calendar, with classes starting in August after CAP allotment.

NIT Nagpur vs YCCE Nagpur vs PCE Nagpur

Students from Nagpur and the wider Vidarbha region often consider NIT Nagpur alongside Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering and Priyadarshini College of Engineering when applying through MHT-CET. All three are private engineering colleges in Nagpur connected with RTMNU.

YCCE has operated longer, offers more engineering branches and holds a NAAC A+ grade. PCE is another option for students interested in CSE and IT placements. Founded in 2008, NIT Nagpur holds a NAAC A grade and is considered by Vidarbha applicants during MHT-CET preference selection.
