Himachal Pradesh University is situated in Shimla and is a state university functioning on grants from multiple bodies under the central government. HPU has been accredited grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has also managed to secure a good rank by NIRF for almost three consecutive years, that is, 2020, 2019, and 2018. For all these years, it was ranked in the university rank band of 151 – 200.

Himachal Pradesh University offers almost all kinds of courses to its students including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. Admission to a few of these courses takes place on the basis of merit or university entrance tests. HPU Placements

  • HPU campus placement drive takes place every year for the students in the third and the fourth year of graduation or B. Tech programs respectively. Currently, the placement drive for the B. Tech. graduates of the year 2022 is going on.
  • As per the reports, almost 12 companies have participated in this recruitment drive.
  • According to the report published by National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), Himachal Pradesh University was able to provide the recruitment to almost 60 students last year from the B. Tech. batch.
  • The average CTC offered to the MBA students raised by 23% in the year 2021 as compared to 2020.
  • The average CTC offered to the B. Tech. and MBA students varied from 4. 5 lakhs per annum to 4. 8 lakhs per annum.
  • The highest CTC remains at 5. 5 lakhs per annum and the minimum go to 3. 5 lakhs per annum.
  • In the year 2019, 80 students were placed out of 140. In 2020, a total of 152 students had applied for the placements and only 68 got the opportunity. In the year 2021, out of 153 students, 60 got placed.

HPU Scholarships

HPU provides multiple centers and state-funded scholarships to its students. Some of them are mentioned below.

  • Students Aid Fund – This scholarship is available only for the socially and economically backward students. Students belonging to the Below Poverty Line demarcation are eligible for this scholarship. Students from low - income families can also opt for it. The detailed criteria might be modified by the university from time – to – time on the requirement basis.
  • Cultural Activists Scholarship – This is specifically designed for the students of Himachal Pradesh University. The students who are extraordinarily excellent in their academic performance and are active participants in the cultural activities of the university are eligible for this scholarship. Every year 10 students are selected under this scholarship.

Ans. HPU provides various infrastructural facilities. It is well – equipped with a computerized library, computer labs, science labs, wifi connections, and so on. In fact, the HPU library has subscriptions to more than 15 computer journals for students to explore.
