AIIMS Bhopal Admission Process
Selection for every AIIMS Bhopal programme is based on merit in the applicable entrance examination. The government-funded institute does not provide management, NRI, donation-based, or direct admission seats.
- Students must first meet the academic requirements for their chosen programme.
- They must take the relevant test, such as NEET UG, the AIIMS Nursing or Allied Health Sciences entrance process, INI CET, NEET SS, the AIIMS PhD entrance examination, or UGC NET.
- Qualified applicants must register for the applicable central or institute-level counselling process.
- Seat allocation depends on entrance rank, category, preferences, seat availability, and document verification.
- Applicants who receive a seat must complete institute reporting and pay the required fee within the stated schedule.
MBBS Admission
Applicants need a 10+2 or equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The minimum aggregate is 60%, while reserved-category students need 50%. They must clear NEET UG, satisfy its minimum cutoff percentile, and participate in MCC AIIMS counselling. The common counselling pool includes AIIMS Bhopal, Rishikesh, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Guntur, Nagpur, Mangalagiri, Kalyani, Bilaspur, Deoghar, Guwahati, Rajkot, Bathinda, and Vijaypur.
For the general category, the last-round NEET UG 2025 closing rank was 634. Round 1 began at rank 533 and closed at 1,142. The closing ranks were 510 in 2024 and 621 in 2023. These results show that admission for general-category students usually falls within the 500 to 700 rank range.
Allied Health Sciences and Nursing Admission
A central entrance process for AIIMS institutes fills the B.Sc Allied Health Sciences seats. B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing uses a separate AIIMS Nursing Entrance process. For either route, students must pass 10+2 with the relevant science subjects and at least 55% aggregate marks.
MD and MS Admission through INI CET
AIIMS Delhi conducts the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test, or INI CET, for admission to MD and MS programmes. The test has January and July sessions each year. Applicants must hold an MBBS degree with at least 55% aggregate marks and valid NMC registration. AIIMS Bhopal has 47 MD seats in more than 25 specialities and 13 MS seats in 5 specialities. INI CET rank is the only selection measure, followed by centralised AIIMS INI CET counselling.
DM, M.Ch, and Super-specialty Admission
Admission to DM and M.Ch courses requires a relevant MD or MS degree and a valid NEET SS score. The National Board of Examinations conducts NEET SS. DM choices at AIIMS Bhopal include Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neonatology, and several other super-specialities. M.Ch options include Neuro Surgery, Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology, CVTS, and other fields.
AIIMS Bhopal Career Outcomes
AIIMS Bhopal does not use the usual campus-placement model followed by many colleges. After MBBS, graduates generally enter the national medical career system through internships, postgraduate entrance tests, residencies, government medical services, research, or private clinical work. An institute-specific service commitment may apply, while government-supported education also carries an expectation of contribution to public healthcare. Graduates of the newer AIIMS institutes are strong competitors for postgraduate seats offered through INI CET.
| Career Stage or Pathway | Typical Compensation | Notes |
| MBBS Internship | INR 17,500 to 25,000 per month, stipend | Rotating internship at AIIMS Bhopal hospital |
| MD/MS Residency at AIIMS | INR 65,000 to 75,000 per month, stipend | Admission through INI CET at AIIMS Bhopal or another AIIMS |
| Senior Resident | INR 75,000 to 1,00,000 per month | Positions at AIIMS Bhopal or other government institutes |
| Government Medical Officer | INR 60,000 to 1,20,000 per month | Opportunities in Madhya Pradesh state health services and central health services |
| Consultant after MD/MS in the private sector | INR 1.5 to 5 LPM | Private hospitals in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities |
The AIIMS name can support graduates competing for INI CET seats, applying for fellowships, or seeking postgraduate opportunities overseas. Medical research and academic medicine are additional career routes because the institute has funded projects, a BSL-3 laboratory, and a Centre of Excellence for Rare Diseases. In 2023, faculty had filed more than 7 patents, while annual research output stood at 300 PubMed-indexed papers.
