VEL TECH, established in 2002 by Dr. R. Rangarajan and Dr. R. Sakunthala Rangarajan, is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Recognized by UGC, accredited by NBA, and approved by AICTE, the institute is affiliated with Anna University. It is graded ‘A’ by NAAC. In the NIRF Rankings 2024, VEL TECH secured the 96th position in the overall category and 86th in the engineering category out of 300 institutions.

Vel Tech University offers BTech as its flagship program. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks as per the norms of Anna University, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the Higher Secondary level. Admission is based on Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) conducted by Anna University. The TNEA 2024 cutoff for BTech IT was 17,223, and for BTech AI, it was 21,475. The total course fee for the BTech program is INR 12.4 lakhs.

Vel Tech University Placement (2018-2022) achieved notable success, with the highest CTC offered being INR 78 LPA by Valist, followed by the second-highest offer of INR 54 LPA. Top recruiters included Staples, Cognizant, Accenture, Comcast, Climber, Ninjacart, Oyo, and others.
