Different NEET examinations apply to different medical courses: NEET UG for MBBS and BDS, NEET PG for MD/MS, and NEET SS for DM/M.Ch. Allied Health Sciences and allied postgraduate courses follow SRIHER's merit-based counselling process. The following ongoing and upcoming events apply to the 2026 admission cycle. SRMC Chennai Courses and Fees

More than 100 programmes cover medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, allied health sciences and management. Fees depend on the course, specialisation and admission quota under the private deemed-to-be university model. Allied Health BSc courses occupy the lower fee bands, while clinical MD/MS and DM/M.Ch courses sit towards the higher end. Across MD/MS specialisations, annual fees range from INR 4.5 Lakhs to INR 32 Lakhs.

The BSc Allied Health Sciences choices include Applied Psychology, Bio-informatics, Cardiac Care Technology, Clinical Nutrition, Clinical Research, Data Science, Health Informatics, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Sports and Exercise Sciences, and Trauma Care Management.

SRMC Chennai Admission Process

NEET qualification is essential for entry to MBBS, BDS, MD/MS and DM/M.Ch. An entrance test conducted by the institution cannot replace NEET for medical or dental admission. SRIHER uses its own entrance tests and merit-based selection for Allied Health Sciences and Management courses.

1. Check the eligibility conditions for the chosen course, including the required school subjects or previous qualification.
2. Take the relevant examination: NEET UG for MBBS/BDS, NEET PG for MD/MS, NEET SS for DM/M.Ch, or NEET MDS for MDS.
3. Join the counselling process for the applicable course and quota. Allied Health applicants follow SRIHER's merit or entrance route, while MBA applicants take its entrance examination and attend an interview.
4. Complete admission under the allotted quota and pay the applicable course fees.

Eligibility and Quotas for MBBS and BDS

MBBS applicants must pass Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, score at least 50% aggregate, and hold a valid NEET UG score. The aggregate requirement is 40% for SC/ST/OBC applicants under AIQ. SRMC has 250 MBBS seats, divided across the following quota categories:

• All India Quota (AIQ): MCC counselling fills 15% of MBBS seats.
• Institutional/Management Quota: SRIHER's counselling allocates 85% of MBBS seats using NEET scores.
• NRI Quota: Reserved seats are available to NRI/OCI applicants at a higher fee.

Entry to MD/MS and DM/M.Ch

A valid NEET PG score is needed for MD/MS admission, with more than 35 disciplines available. AIQ applicants attend MCC PG counselling, while institutional and management applicants follow SRIHER's postgraduate counselling route. NEET SS determines entry to super-specialty courses across 13 DM disciplines and 11 M.Ch disciplines.

Selection for Allied Health Sciences and MBA

Students from the 10+2 Biology stream can apply for BSc Allied Health Sciences through SRIHER's merit-based selection or institutional entrance examination. Graduates of any discipline can seek MBA Hospital Management admission through the SRIHER entrance examination and interview. Neither route requires a NEET score.

SRMC Chennai Placements and Career Paths

Further medical training is a common next step after MBBS at SRMC. Many graduates take NEET PG to enter MD/MS, while others join government hospitals or pursue residency programmes abroad. Conventional campus recruitment mainly serves Allied Health Sciences, Nursing and Hospital Management students, as is common at private deemed medical universities.

NIRF 2025 data places the median starting salary at INR 12.5 LPA for MBBS graduates and INR 25 LPA for MD/MS graduates. LPA means lakhs per annum. The MBBS figure relates to initial government or corporate hospital employment; the postgraduate figure reflects specialist consultation and senior hospital positions.

The attached hospital has more than 1,700 beds and employs a large share of SRMC-trained specialists as faculty members and senior consultants. SRMC Chennai Rankings

Porur, on Chennai's western edge near the Chennai-Bangalore highway, is home to SRMC's self-contained health sciences campus. The medical, dental, pharmacy and nursing colleges share this site with allied health schools and Sri Ramachandra Hospital.

Clinical training for MBBS, MD/MS and super-specialty students takes place at the attached tertiary care hospital. Its more than 1,700 beds support dedicated services in cardiac surgery, organ transplantation, neurosurgery, oncology and neonatology. Specialty outpatient departments, or OPDs, handle 5,000 to 7,000 patients daily, giving trainees exposure to a large number of clinical cases.

Separate hostel blocks serve MBBS, BDS, Allied Health, Nursing and postgraduate residents, with accommodation for more than 5,935 students. Other facilities include a water sports centre, sports complex, gym, cafeteria, student activity zone and medical library holding more than 50,000 volumes. Porur junction and the metro rail extension connect the campus area with Chennai city.

SRMC Chennai, PSG IMSR and Chettinad Medical College Comparison

Students seeking private deemed university MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu with NEET ranks between 2 and 5 Lakhs commonly consider SRMC Chennai alongside PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSG IMSR), Coimbatore, and Chettinad Health City Medical College (CHCMC), Chennai. The three are private deemed-to-be university medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, with NEET-based selection and comparable fee structures.

Among these colleges, SRMC has the higher NIRF Medical position, NAAC grade and MBBS intake, along with the widest super-specialty selection. Its research environment and range of training options after MBBS make it the leading choice of the three for students focused on these factors.

PSG IMSR offers students from western Tamil Nadu an alternative in Coimbatore, with comparable hospital infrastructure and lower competition for NEET ranks there. Chettinad is newer and has a large hospital, although its NIRF position is less established.
