SIMATS Admission Dates 2026

SIMATS admissions for 2026-27 follow different exam and counselling timelines for different courses. Current and future medical, dental, and nursing counselling dates are listed below.

SIMATS Courses and Fees

SIMATS runs 200+ programmes in medicine, dentistry, engineering, management, law, and allied health. The main courses and total fee figures are given below.

Fee structures for postgraduate medical courses such as MD, MS, DM, and M.Ch vary by specialisation and fall between INR 1.5 Lakhs and INR 1.5 Crore. MDS fees go up to INR 90 Lakhs for high-demand branches such as Orthodontics and Prosthodontics.

SIMATS Admission Process

SIMATS follows separate admission routes for its schools. Selection rules, eligibility marks, seat allotment, and entrance exam needs change from one course group to another.

MBBS and BDS

MBBS has 250 seats, and both MBBS and BDS admission are based on NEET UG. Students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, at least 50% aggregate marks, or 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates, and a valid NEET UG score.

• 15% seats are allotted under the All India Quota (AIQ) through MCC counselling
• 85% seats are filled through Tamil Nadu state quota counselling, through TNMGRMU for medical seats and Tamil Nadu Health System for dental seats
• Management quota seats are filled directly by the institution with NMC/DCI approval

For SIMATS management quota admissions, past NEET UG closing ranks have usually been between 100,000 and 400,000, based on category and specialisation. State quota closing ranks are usually lower because competition is different.

BE and B.Tech (Saveetha School of Engineering)

Saveetha School of Engineering considers JEE Main and TANCET. SIMATS also holds its own entrance route for direct admission.

• Eligibility: 10+2 with PCM and at least 60% aggregate marks
• Some seats are filled through Anna University counselling
• Management quota seats are allotted directly through JEE Main scores, TANCET scores, or SIMATS merit
• Specialisations include CSE, AI and ML, Data Science and AI, Cyber Security, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, Bioinformatics, and more

MBA and Management Programmes

For MBA admission, students must have a graduation degree in any subject with at least 50% aggregate marks. SIMATS accepts CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, and ATMA. Selection is based on the entrance score, group discussion, and personal interview. Admission for the 2026-28 batch is over, and the 2027-29 batch cycle opens in November 2026 after CAT 2026 results.

Law (BA LLB / BBA LLB / B.Com LLB)

For five-year integrated law courses, SIMATS accepts CLAT and CUET UG scores along with direct merit-based admission. Students must pass 10+2 in any stream with at least 45% aggregate marks, or 40% for SC/ST candidates. LLM admission needs an LLB degree with 50% aggregate marks and a valid CLAT PG score.

SIMATS Placements

Placement patterns at SIMATS differ by school. Engineering, management, and allied health students take part in campus recruitment. Medical and dental graduates mostly move towards postgraduate entrance exams such as NEET PG and NEET MDS, or they begin clinical practice.

As reported by SIMATS in NIRF 2025 data, 1,717 UG students and 402 PG students were placed in 2025. UG median salary was in the INR 4.50 to 7.50 LPA range, while PG median salary stood between INR 6.50 to 15.60 LPA.

Recruiters for engineering and management include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Cognizant, HCL, L and T, and companies from BFSI and healthcare sectors. After completing medical or dental degrees, many students prepare for NEET PG or NEET MDS, join government service, or work in private clinical practice.

SIMATS Rankings

SIMATS has ranked in several NIRF categories. In NIRF 2025, it stood at 13th in the University category with a score of 65.04 and 2nd in Dental. The university is also listed in QS World University Rankings 2027 and Times Higher Education rankings.

SIMATS is the only Indian university placed in the global top 10 for Dentistry in the QS Subject Rankings 2027. Its research record includes more than 17,500 Scopus-indexed publications. In the NIRF 2025 Research category, SIMATS is ranked 13th nationally.

SIMATS Campus and Infrastructure

The SIMATS campus is spread over 180+ acres in Poonamallee, Chennai, a western gateway of the city with good access to central Chennai. The campus has five schools, a 1,300-bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital, a dental hospital with more than 3,000 dental chairs, and a large research block.

Separate hostel accommodation is available for male and female students. Boys hostel and Girls hostel fees range from INR 22,000 to INR 1,50,000 per year, based on the room type. Students also have access to a central library, sports facilities, cafeterias, and the separate SIMATS Engineering campus at Thandalam.

The Thandalam engineering campus has labs for computing, robotics, IoT, and materials science. Saveetha Dental College operates from its own facility within the campus and is the main clinical training centre for BDS and MDS students. MBBS and nursing students also benefit from on-campus hospital exposure.

SIMATS vs SRM University vs SRIHER

Students looking at private deemed universities in Tamil Nadu for medical, engineering, or management courses often compare SIMATS with SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), Chennai. The comparison below shows the main differences.

SIMATS performs strongly in dental rankings and also has good NIRF positions in medical and engineering. SRMIST is often chosen by students who mainly want engineering, helped by its stronger NIRF Engineering rank. SRIHER has a strong clinical name in MBBS and nursing as a medical and allied health university, but it does not offer the same wide course range as SIMATS and SRMIST.
