NEIGRIHMS UG Admission 2026

At the UG level, NEIGRIHMS admits students to MBBS and B.Sc Nursing. MBBS has 50 seats divided across four quota categories. Out of these, 42 seats are meant for North East India residents, and 8 seats are offered through All India MCC counselling.

NEIGRIHMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2026

• The applicant must be a permanent resident or domicile holder of any of the 8 North Eastern states, including Sikkim.
• The last 2 academic years must have been completed in schools located in India.
• The minimum age is 17 years by December 31, 2026.
• The applicant must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology, and English.
• A minimum 50% aggregate in PCB is required.
• The applicant must have qualified NEET UG 2026.

NEIGRIHMS MBBS Selection Criteria 2026

NEIGRIHMS prepares the MBBS merit list from NEET UG 2026 scores only. The institute does not conduct a separate entrance test for MBBS.

• NE Open seats, 18: NEIGRIHMS prepares the merit list from NEET UG scores of candidates with NE domicile and conducts offline counselling in Shillong.
• All India seats, 8: These seats are filled through MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 at mcc.nic.in.
• Meghalaya and Nagaland seats, 24: Candidates are nominated directly by the state governments. Applicants must apply to both their state authority and NEIGRIHMS.
• Tiebreaker: English marks are removed first, followed by Physics, Chemistry, and Botany in the same order. If the tie still continues, the older candidate gets the higher rank.

Note: Meghalaya and Nagaland state quota applicants must register with both the state directorate and NEIGRIHMS. If either registration is missed, the state-nominated seat is lost.

B.Sc Nursing admission at NEIGRIHMS is also based on NEET UG merit. M.Sc Nursing is offered at the PG level, while DM/M.Ch courses are handled through super-speciality admission.

NEIGRIHMS B.Sc Nursing Selection Process 2026

• Selection is based only on NEET UG 2026 merit.
• The application form fee is INR 500.
• NEIGRIHMS prepares the merit list using NEET UG 2026 scores.
• No separate entrance exam is held.
• Counselling is done strictly as per NEET rank.
• A medical examination is required before final admission.

How to Apply for B.Sc Nursing at NEIGRIHMS?

• Visit the official NEIGRIHMS website and open the Online Application for B.Sc Nursing 2026-27.
• Register, log in to the portal, and choose Apply Services, B.Sc Nursing Application.
• Enter personal, academic, and NEET UG 2026 details in the online form.
• Pay the INR 500 application processing fee online.
• Submit the form and keep the confirmation page.
• Check the NEIGRIHMS website for the shortlisted candidates list and counselling schedule.
• Attend counselling with all original documents and complete the compulsory medical examination.
• Pay the admission fee on the counselling day and complete the admission steps to secure the seat.

Refund & Fee Policy

• Course fee is not refundable after payment.
• Refund is allowed only when the Institute's Medical Board declares a candidate medically unfit.
• A student who leaves the course midway loses the refundable security deposit.

Other Important Rules

• Ragging is banned and can lead to expulsion, suspension, FIR, or fines from INR 25,000 to INR 1 lakh.
• Students need at least 80% attendance in theory and practical classes to appear in university examinations.
• 100% attendance in practical training is compulsory before the degree is awarded.
• NEIGRIHMS may revise admission dates, seat matrix, fees, and other rules as per Government directives.

NEIGRIHMS PG Admission 2026

NEIGRIHMS offers full-time 3-year MD/MS programmes in 12 medical specialisations. These programmes started in 2009-10. Students admitted to them are called Junior Residents (PG), and the academic session usually starts in May.

Admission to the eligible category is decided fully by merit in the NEIGRIHMS Entrance Examination.

Seat Reservation

• 50% seats are filled through the All India PG Entrance Test.
• 50% seats are kept for the North East Open Category.
• Out of the total seats, 25%, which is half of the NE quota, are reserved for candidates who completed MBBS from NEIGRIHMS.
• NEIGRIHMS holds its own entrance exam only for NE Open Category admission, covering 5 seats.

NEIGRIHMS MD/MS Eligibility Criteria

NEIGRIHMS MD/MS Selection Criteria

NEIGRIHMS gives MD/MS admission only on the basis of merit in its entrance examination.

• Applicants who score below 50% marks in the entrance test are not eligible and are not placed in the merit list or waiting list.
• Tie-Breaking Criteria, Inter-se Merit
  • When two or more candidates get the same entrance exam score, preference is applied in a fixed order.
  • The first preference goes to the candidate who cleared all MBBS examinations in fewer attempts.
  • The next preference goes to the candidate with higher marks in the Final MBBS examination, including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Paediatrics.
  • If the tie still remains, the older candidate is preferred.

Counselling Process

• Shortlisted applicants must attend offline counselling at the Office of the Director, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, at their own cost.
• Seat allotment follows merit rank and seat availability.
• Applicants can select their preferred speciality during counselling.
• If an applicant does not attend, the seat moves to the next eligible person on the merit list.
• NEIGRIHMS conducts counselling as per the schedule it notifies.

Key point: Employed MBBS doctors applying for NEIGRIHMS MD/MS should start the NOC process as soon as NEET PG 2026 results are released. The NOC must be shown during counselling. Without it, the candidate is not eligible for that counselling round.

• Open the NEIGRIHMS Academic Notifications page and download the latest MD/MS prospectus and online application form when available.
• Register online with a valid email ID and mobile number.
• Fill out the online form and upload the required documents.
• Pay the prescribed application fee of INR 1500.
• Download and keep the submitted form and payment receipt.
• Appear for the NEIGRIHMS Entrance Examination if applying under the North East Open Category, because NEIGRIHMS conducts this test for those seats.
• Check the official website often for the merit list, counselling schedule, and admission notices.
• Attend offline counselling at the Office of the Director, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, with all original documents.

NEIGRIHMS Super-Speciality Admission 2026

NEIGRIHMS offers DM/M.Ch super-speciality courses through NEET SS and MCC super-specialty counselling. Applicants need an MD or DNB in Medicine or Paediatrics from an MCI-recognised university, and the maximum age is 35 years as on January 1 of the admission year.

NEIGRIHMS Scholarships

NEIGRIHMS does not provide institute-run scholarships. It helps students apply for central and state government schemes through the National Scholarships Portal and its academic office.

• NEC Merit Scholarship: The North Eastern Council offers this scholarship to meritorious students from NE states. Students studying inside or outside the NE region can apply.
• Post-Matric Scholarships, SC/ST/OBC/EWS: Students can apply through the National Scholarships Portal at scholarships.gov.in.
• State Government Scholarships: Every NE state offers merit and welfare scholarships. Students should contact their home state education department for eligibility and deadlines.
