LPU is hosting Indian Science Congress for the second time with the first time being in 2019.

The 109th edition of the Indian Science Congress, hosted by Lovely Professional University (LPU), is proudly announcing a series of sessions and conferences whose theme is “The Global Perspective on Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future.” The objective of this event is to hold discussions and carry out sustainable growth across multiple sectors, it will gather renowned Nobel laureates, scientists, researchers, academicians, experts, innovators, and policymakers from across the globe for this purpose.

The Indian Science Congress involves a series of conferences and discussions dealing in various themes with an underlying objective of spotlighting the critical role of science & technology in sustainable development. The Schedule of the event is given as follows:

The commencement of this program will be by the inauguration of Indian Science Congress followed by a plenary lecture program to be held on January 3, 2024. The Second Day will feature inaugurations of other important events like Children's Science Congress, Women's Science Congress, Farmers’ Science Congress, and the Science Communicators' Meet.

The Children’s Science Congress aims to platform kids aged between 10 – 17 years old to showcase and encourage the scientific temperament of the youth. It fosters creativity and satisfies the scientific curiosity of kids by conducting scientific experiments.

The Women’s Science Congress is an effort to ensure and celebrate gender equality & inclusivity in science. It provides recognition and appreciation to women in science. The Science Communicator’s Meet aims to bring the scientific temperament to the masses and focuses on devising ways to disseminate scientific information. The Farmer’s Science Congress highlights the vital role that farmers have played in moulding the sustainable world through climate-resilient agriculture, digital advancements, and models of entrepreneurship.

The third day will be marked by two more inaugurations viz. Tribal Science Congress and Science & Society Congress. The Science & Society Congress will deal with the interrelationships among science, society, and sustainable development in light of ethical considerations. The Tribal Science Congress is a showcase of indigenous knowledge and culture along with sustainable livelihood practices and for this purpose, it will host various scientists, researchers, and policymakers.

Apart from these sessions, the Indian Science Congress is set to host multiple conferences tackling various topics that include physics, mathematics, chemistry, animal, veterinary, fishery sciences, earth system sciences etc. These conferences, in general, will evaluate scientific research & innovation in specific fields in the light of advancements secured and contributions made concerning sustainability, environmental conservation and management of resources.

The event also features a Science Exhibition called “Explorica” which contains various showcases highlighting all the significant developments, achievements, and contributions of Science and technology from India. To highlight India’s growing scientific might especially among the students top-notch scientific institutions are expected to attend this exhibition.

While expressing his enthusiasm on hosting 109th Indian Science Congress, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mithal, Founder Chancellor of LPU & Rajya Sabha MP, dubbed it as a stage for constructive discussions and collaborations along with knowledge sharing.

This is LPU’s second time hosting this massive gathering of great minds while the first time was in 2019. The program looks to promote and create a more sustainable future and extends a hearty invitation to all members of society including researchers, policymakers, academicians, and scientists to provide their contributions in this global dialogue about sustainability, technology, and science.
