The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has made a major announcement regarding the pattern of examinations. From 2025, the ICAI CA Final exams will be conducted three times a year as opposed to the existing twice-yearly cycle. This has been decided in the 441st Council Meeting conducted on March 27, 2025, in New Delhi.
ICAI CA Exam 2025: Revised Schedule
Starting from next year, the ICAI CA Final examinations will be held in January, May, and September, which will offer the students more freedom and greater chances. The schedule of CA Final exams will coincide with that of the ICAI Intermediate and Foundation course examinations, which were modified last year to be thrice a year as well.
The ICAI said that this step is to embrace international best practices and improve opportunities for students.
Why the Change? Advantages for CA Aspirants
The new schedule provides various benefits to students who are studying the ICAI CA course:
- Greater flexibility: Exams being conducted three times a year, students will have more opportunities to appear, cutting down the waiting time between attempts.
- Qualification in less time: Frequent exams allow students to finish their CA qualification earlier, enhancing their career prospects.
- Less stress: Multiple attempts eliminate the stress of passing exams in one attempt, with more chances to pass.
Post Qualification Course Also Revised
In addition to the ICAI CA Final examination, the institute has also adjusted the timing for its Post Qualification Course in Information Systems Audit. Earlier it was conducted bi-annually in June and December, but now the Assessment Test for the course will be held three times a year in February, June, and October.

ICAI President CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda and Vice President CA. Prasanna Kumar D, along with other council members, brought about these changes as part of an overall effort to improve professional education and make the examination process more inclusive.
