IIT Kanpur conducted the JEE Advanced 2025 exam today, May 18, 2025, in a computer-based format. The exam is held across 222 cities in India and two cities abroad. The exam was held in two shifts – Paper 1 from 9 AM to 12 noon and Paper 2 from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM.
As per the initial reaction of test takers, JEE Advanced 2025 Paper 2 was moderate to difficult overall. Paper 2 was tougher and lengthier than Paper 1. The difficulty level of Paper 1 was moderate. It was easier compared to last year’s paper. The total number of questions was reduced to 48. Each section has 16 questions.
An estimated 200,000 candidates are expected to participate in this highly competitive entrance test for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Candidates are requested to report to their respective centres by 7 AM for identity check, frisking, and capturing of biometrics. Admission into the exam hall is controlled, and candidates should be seated by 8:30 AM for Paper 1 and 2:00 PM for Paper 2.

Essential Documents and Items to Carry
- A signed copy of the JEE Advanced 2025 Admit Card, which has been printed out by the applicant as well as by his/her parent/guardian.
- At least one original photo identification proof (Aadhaar, School ID, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card).
- A pen or a pencil for doing the rough work.
- A transparent water bottle.
- Scribble pads will be available at the exam hall for scratch work; however, only one pad per candidate.

Dress Code Guidelines
- Do not wear metallic objects like rings, bracelets, earrings, or chains.
- Do not wear garments with large buttons.
- Wear open shoes like sandals or chappals.
Strict compliance with these instructions will facilitate easy entry during security screening.
Special Arrangements for Differently-Abled Candidates
Students with less than 40% disability and who have writing difficulties are entitled to have a scribe beginning today, May 17.
