The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2025 have been released, specifying separate guidelines for Indian nationals, OCI/PIO candidates, and foreign nationals. Eligibility Criteria for Indian Nationals and OCI/PIO Cardholders (Issued Before March 4, 2021)
- Performance in JEE (Main) 2025: Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 qualifiers in the B.E./B.Tech paper of JEE (Main) 2025.
The top candidates are shortlisted across categories as follows:

Note: OCI/PIO cardholders issued before March 4, 2021, are eligible only under the OPEN and OPEN-PwD categories and do not qualify for other reservations.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, and PwD candidates are eligible for a five-year age relaxation (October 1, 1995).
- Number of Attempts: Candidates can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
- Class XII Appearance: Candidates must have appeared for their Class XII (or equivalent) exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 2023, 2024, or 2025. Exceptions apply for withheld results based on the academic year of 2021-22.
- Previous Admission in IITs: Candidates previously admitted to any IIT are not eligible, except those who joined preparatory courses in 2024 or who withdrew before final seat allotment.

Eligibility for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO Cardholders (Cards Issued On or After March 4, 2021)
- Age Limit: Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000. In countries requiring mandatory military service, age relaxation applies upon providing proper documentation.
- Number of Attempts: A maximum of three attempts is allowed within three consecutive years.
- Class XII Appearance: Candidates must have completed their Class XII (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
- Previous Admission in IITs: Candidates previously admitted to any IIT are generally ineligible, with exceptions for those in preparatory courses or who withdrew before the final round of seat allotment.
Additional Notes
- OCI/PIO Eligibility: OCI/PIO cardholders with cards issued before March 4, 2021, are considered Indian nationals and qualify under the OPEN and OPEN-PwD categories only. They do not benefit from reserved categories.
- Identity Proof: All candidates must provide identity documentation, such as a citizenship certificate, passport, or OCI/PIO card.
- Foreign Nationals’ Seats: Foreign nationals have access to supernumerary seats, capped at 10% per course and not subject to reservation quotas.
