IIT Kanpur has released the updated JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria on the official website jeeadv.ac.in. Candidates must be ranked among 2,50,000 candidates including all categories in JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 (B.E/B. Tech) to be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2025. If you are an unreserved candidate then you should be born on or after October 1, 2000. You must be born or or after October 1, 1995 if you are a candidate from ST, SC, PwD categories.
Candidates can now attempt the exam twice in two consecutive years, instead of the intial 3 attempts. They must complete class XII or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Lastly, candidates must not be admitted to any IIT via JoSAA 2025 counselling.

The main criteria for eligibility for the JEE Advanced exam is passing the JEE Mains 2025 preliminary exam. It is a given that candidates who take the JEE Advanced exam must have performed well in the JEE Mains exam. Candidates are also limited to two consecutive attempts, which is another restriction on the number of attempts.

Candidates must have appeared for their Class XII (or equivalent) exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 2023, 2024, or 2025. Exceptions apply for withheld results based on the academic year of 2021-22.
Candidates previously admitted to any IIT are not eligible, except those who joined preparatory courses in 2025 or who withdrew before final seat allotment.
Aspirants planning to take JEE Advanced must have cleared following examinations so that they can fall under the category of JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility criteria set by the authorities:
Candidates are considered foreign nationals if they candidates are NOT citizens of India and do not come under the OCI category and the candidates whose parents are not citizens of India and do not come under the OCI category at the time of registration. Foreign nationals are allotted 10% of the total number of seats as supernumerary seats.
Note – Foreign candidates who are interested in the B.Arch program will have to reach any of the zonal IITs to take the Architecture Aptitude Test.
