How is JEE Advanced Score Calculated?

The final score will be calculated for JEE Advanced Results taking the scores of both papers. Refer to the points below to know how JEE Advanced Results 2025 will be calculated:

  • This means each section score will be calculated by totaling scores in both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • For example, if you score 12 marks in Paper 1 in Physics and 8 Marks in Paper 2 in Physics, the total for the Physics section will be 20. Similarly, marks for Chemistry and Mathematics will be calculated.
  • Likewise, JEE Advanced Cutoff is based on the aggregate of each section from JEE Advanced Result 2025 and also a certain percentage of each section.

JEE Advanced Results: Rank List

You must clear the qualifying JEE Advanced Cutoff to be able to get included in the merit list. Refer to the points below:

  • Candidates who will appear for both papers (Paper 1 & Paper 2) will be considered for a Rank List.
  • In other words, the Rank list is prepared based on aggregate marks scored in all three subjects of JEE Advanced.
  • Likewise, the merit list of the other categories such as SC, ST, and OBC-NCL will be released separately with specified relaxation in minimum marks.

JEE Advanced Results: Tie-Breaker Rules

In case there is a tie-in for your marks in JEE Advanced 2025 then authorities will apply a tiebreaker. 

  1. The common rank will be calculated according to the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the result.
  2. Now, there can be a clash between two candidates in aggregate marks obtained in JEE Advanced 2025.
  3. Therefore, in such a case, tie-breaker rules are to be followed.
    1. First, candidates with higher positive scores will be given a higher rank.
    2. Secondly, candidates scoring higher marks in Mathematics will be given a higher rank.
    3. After that, candidates obtaining greater marks in Physics will be given a higher rank.
    4. Furthermore, if the situation remains a tie, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank.

JEE Advanced Answer Keys 2025 will be released on June 9, 2025. JEE Advanced provisional answer keys will be released on June 2, 2025 by 10 amYou can only challenge JEE Advanced Provisional answer keys and you will not be able to challenge JEE Advanced final answer keys. Please refer to the points below details:

  • Only those candidates' answers will be recorded who have appeared for both the Papers of JEE Advanced.
  • You can view, download, and print these recorded answers from the candidate portal available on the official website
  • The provisional answer keys will be available at the online portal. But, these provisional answer keys are subject to change.
  • You will be allowed to challenge JEE Advanced provisional answer keys during the designated challenge window.
  • You can also send your feedback on answer keys through the portal. 
  • Subsequently, the final answer and minimum for inclusion in the rank will be published on the online portal with the announcement of the results.

Note: JEE Advanced Answer Key Challenge Window will be open from June 2 (10 am) to June 3, 2025 (5 pm). You can make your challenge of JEE Advanced provisional answer keys during this period. 

JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025 

The qualifying cutoff marks for JEE Advanced 2025 will vary across the different categories:

  • Common Rank List (CRL): Minimum 20.56% aggregate marks and 5.83% in each subject.
  • GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL: Minimum 18.50% aggregate marks and 5.25% in each subject.
  • SC/ST/PwD: Minimum 10.28% aggregate marks and 2.92% in each subject.
  • Preparatory Course: Minimum 5.14% aggregate marks and 1.46% in each subject.

The candidate with the higher aggregate marks i.e 300 will have the better chance of securing the admission into the top IITs in the courses like CSE. To get the admission into IIT Bombay with CSE course the candidate is required to score above 330 marks.

A candidates with 150 marks will find it difficult to secure admission into IITs, specially in the competitive branches. Such candidates will have other options like NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs, where the competition will be comparatively less.

AAT 2025: Check JEE Advanced AAT  Details

After the announcement of the JEE Advanced Results, you can register for AAT 2025 for admission to B. Arch courses at IIT RoorkeeIIT Varanasi, and IIT Kharagpur can register for Architecture Aptitude Test 2025 (AAT 2025) at jeeadv.ac.in. Check AAT 2025 exam centres 

  • IIT Madras will open AAT Registration window on June 9, 2025.
  • AAT 2025 exam date is June 12, 2025.
  • Result of AAT 2025 will be declared on June 15, 2025.
  • The Joint Implementation Committee will decide the cutoff for AAT 2025.
  • There is no separate ranking and cut-off in AAT.
