The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will start candidate registration for JoSAA 2025 on June 3 at 5:00 PM through the official website josaa.nic.in. The JEE Advanced 2025 results were announced on June 2. Eligible candidates can access the JoSAA 2025 counselling registration login link on the website.

This year, the JoSAA seat allocation process will be conducted in six rounds. The entire counselling process is online and includes steps such as registration, choice filling, and choice locking. Candidates who have qualified either JEE Main or JEE Advanced 2025 are eligible to participate in JoSAA counselling.

JEE Advanced Counselling Eligibility Criteria

JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling will take place from June 2025 (tentative). If you fulfil the eligibility criteria then you will be able to participate in the JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling. Check JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria in detail

  • You must have a valid rank in the Common Rank List of JEE Advanced 2025.
  • To take part in the JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling, the candidates must attain the qualified rank in JEE Advanced 2025.
  • You need to score at least 75% marks in the class 12th (or equivalent) exam. For candidates belonging to SC/ST, PwD category, 65% marks in 12th standard are compulsory.
  • You should remain in the top 20 percentile by category in the 12th class (or equivalent) board examination.
  • Sometimes educational boards may only offer letter grades in the mark sheet.
  • So, you are required to produce a letter from the board for calculating the aggregate marks. Otherwise, the decision in such matters will be taken by the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE Advanced 2025.

JEE Advanced 2025 (JoSAA) Counselling Process

The JEE Advanced Counselling process is divided into 4 steps. Let us take a detailed look at these steps.

Step 1 – Registration for JoSAA 2025 Counselling

  • You will first have to register for the JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling process, which will be organized by JoSAA at josaa.nic.in 2025.
  • You have to use your JEE Main Registration Number and details to register at the JoSAA website. Link to the same has been provided in the article above.
  • After checking all the previously filled information, you will have to confirm it again.

Step 2 – Filling and Locking of Choice

  • You have to choose the college and course of your choice from the given options.
  • In online JoSAA Counselling, choices can also be rearranged until final choices are selected.
  • Once you are sure of your choice then you will have to lock it.
  • If you do not lock the choices, it will automatically get locked on the last date.
  • To be on the safe side, take a printout of the selected choices.

Step 3 – Seat Allotment

  • Exam administration will also conduct mock allocation for JoSAA 2025 Counselling.
  • With this, you can know about their possible allocation as per their current choice.
  • After the mock allocation, you will be able to make changes according to your choice.

The exam administration will allocate seats in 5 phases. After every allocation, candidates have to choose their options from float, freeze and slide.

Step 4- Reporting at Centres

  • In the end, you have to download your allotment letter.
  • After this, you have to pay the fees for acceptance of seats.
  • Certificates/Documents will be examined at the respective Zonal IIT centres.
  • Finally, you have to report at the allotted JEE Advanced 2025 counselling centre for seat confirmation.

Key Points for Reporting at Zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)

  • If a candidate does not report to the Zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) which is their JEE Advanced 2025 counselling centre before the last date, his/her seat will be forfeited.
  • Candidates who are offered any upgraded seat have to give up their previous allotted seat.
  • Payment of the fee is possible through any of the acceptable modes such as internet banking, credit card/debit card, UPI or e-challan.
  • The applicants must also upload the scanned copy of the marksheet of class 12th at the online portal.
  • Once the candidate is allotted a seat in any of the 7 rounds, he/she has to report to the zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to confirm the allotted seat. Provisional Allotment Letter will mention the last date and time for reporting.

JEE Advanced Tiebreaker Policy

Two or more candidates may have the same score in JEE Advanced. In that case, the following JEE Advanced Tie breaker policy will be used:

  1. Tie-in marks and ranks disrupt the ranking table and thereby cause difficulty in JoSAA Counselling.
  2. In such a case, a Tie-breaker policy is used for the allocation of suitable ranks-
    1. First, if you have higher ranks then you will get a higher rank.
    2. Second, if you have higher marks in Maths then you will get a higher rank.
    3. Third, if you have higher marks in Physics then you will get a higher rank.
    4. Finally, if the tie persists, then both candidates will get the same rank.

JEE Advanced (JoSAA) Counselling: Provisional Admission

  1. To allow only eligible candidates for admission, colleges provide provisional admission.
  2. After the final reporting at Zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), institutes issue final allotment letter.
  3. This allotment letter will grant provisional admission to the candidate.
