IIT Hyderabad Courses and Fees 2026

IIT Hyderabad runs UG, PG, and doctoral programmes. Its flagship B.Tech course has 15 engineering and applied science branches, including the separate Artificial Intelligence programme started in 2019. It was among the first standalone B.Tech in AI programmes at an Indian IIT. The fee details below are based on the official IITH fee structure for the 2025 batch.

B.Tech branch options at IIT Hyderabad include CSE, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (MSME), Engineering Physics, Mathematics and Computing (M&C), Biomedical Engineering, and Climate Change. M.Tech is offered in over 20 specialisations, including CSE, VLSI, Power Electronics, Structural Engineering, Chemical, and several interdisciplinary research areas.

Under the Government of India scheme, SC/ST students get a full tuition fee waiver. For SC/ST B.Tech students, the payable amount is limited to hostel and mess charges each semester.

IIT Hyderabad Admission Process 2026

IIT Hyderabad admits students through national-level entrance tests and institute-level selection rounds, depending on the programme. B.Tech seats are allotted through JEE Advanced and JoSAA, M.Tech seats through GATE and COAP, M.Sc seats through IIT JAM and JOAPS, and PhD seats through department-level tests or interviews.

1. For B.Tech, students must first clear JEE Main and come within the top 2.5 Lakh rank holders to appear for JEE Advanced.
2. After JEE Advanced, eligible students register for JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority), which allots seats across IITs and NITs.
3. JoSAA usually conducts 5 to 6 seat allotment rounds between June and August each year.

IIT Hyderabad B.Tech Admission 2026

B.Tech admission at IIT Hyderabad is only through JEE Advanced. The usual closing JEE Advanced All India Rank (AIR) for CSE in the General category is in the 1,800 to 2,500 range. AI, EE, and M&C follow next in competition, with closing ranks in the 2,500 to 5,000 range. Civil and Materials Science are comparatively easier to get within the IIT system, with General category closing ranks beyond 5,000.

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission 2026

M.Tech admission is handled through GATE scores and the COAP portal. Each department sets its own minimum GATE score requirements, and these can change every year. GATE-qualified M.Tech students at IIT Hyderabad receive INR 12,400 per month as stipend along with a tuition fee waiver through MHRD/MoE funding. Students admitted without GATE qualification, such as Industry-sponsored or Self-financed candidates, do not get the stipend and must pay the full tuition fee.

M.Sc seats in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology are filled through IIT JAM and JOAPS. The minimum qualifying percentile is decided by the respective department and may change from one year to another.

IIT Hyderabad PhD Admission 2026

IIT Hyderabad invites PhD applications two times a year for the January and July sessions. Candidates with GATE, CSIR-NET, or UGC-NET scores, or a relevant M.Tech or M.Sc degree, can apply through the institute portal. Selection includes a department-level written test or interview. PhD scholars receive JRF of INR 37,000/month or SRF of INR 42,000/month, based on their stage in the doctorate.

In Phase 1 placements for the 2025-26 B.Tech batch, IIT Hyderabad recorded its highest offer at INR 2.5 Crore per annum from an international company. Two domestic offers stood at INR 1.1 Crore each.
