The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the schedule of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 Session 2. What is JEE Main?
JEE Main is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the NTA for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs in top Indian institutions such as:
- National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
- Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)
- Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs)
Additionally, JEE Main serves as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Exam Pattern and Scoring
JEE Main is conducted in two papers:
- Paper 1 – For B.E./B. Tech programs (computer-based test).
- Paper 2 – For B. Arch (Partly computer-based and partly pen-paper mode) and B. Planning (computer-based test).
The test is in the form of multiple-choice and numerical-based questions. The marking is done on the normalized percentile system since the test is held in more than one shift.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidates should have passed or be appearing for Class 12 (or equivalent) examination.
- There is no age restriction; however, the candidates should meet the institute-specific age requirement.
- Mathematics and Physics are mandatory subjects for engineering students, whereas Architecture and Planning students need Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
