The NEET PG 2025 exam, originally scheduled for June 15, has been abruptly postponed by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), leaving over 2 lakh aspirants in shock and frustration. The announcement came unexpectedly on the evening of June 2, just 12 days before the exam, without any new date being announced.

This last-minute postponement has triggered widespread criticism, with the Student Federation of India (SFI) leading the protest. In a joint statement, SFI President VP Sanu and General Secretary Mayukh Biswas called the delay "unjustified" and accused NBEMS of "systemic mismanagement and inadequate planning."

Exam Timeline and Postponement

NBEMS stated that the postponement was in compliance with the Supreme Court's directive to conduct NEET PG in a single shift to ensure fairness. However, students and SFI argue that the board had ample time to plan and still failed to make necessary arrangements.

SFI's Demands to NBEMS

• Immediate announcement of the new NEET PG 2025 date
• Expansion of test centers to avoid long-distance travel
• Compensation for financial and emotional stress caused to aspirants
• Removal of private contractors like TCS from the exam process
• Transparent and student-friendly exam planning in the future

SFI pointed out that NBEMS collected nearly ₹60 crore in exam fees, yet failed to enhance infrastructure or expand the number of test centers. Many candidates were forced to travel to distant cities due to the limited availability of slots.

The sudden decision has not only disrupted months of preparation but also revived bitter memories from previous years. In 2024, NEET PG was postponed three times, with one cancellation happening just 12 hours before the exam.

As students await clarity, SFI has vowed to continue pressuring NBEMS until the new exam date is announced and structural reforms are initiated.
