Panjab University will conduct the PU B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.) Migration Entrance Test 2026 today, October 18, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM in Chandigarh. The test is for candidates seeking migration to the third, fifth or seventh semester at the University Institute of Legal Studies in Chandigarh and the university's law institutes at Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur.
Candidates must carry the downloaded admit card to the examination centre. Panjab University's prospectus states that no candidate will be permitted to take the test without it. The result is scheduled for November 6, 2026, and will be published online rather than through individual result cards.

What candidates should carry and check
The admit card was made available online on October 13 through the candidate login. Candidates should carry a clear printout and follow the centre instructions printed on it. The prospectus specifically requires production of the admit card at the test centre and asks candidates to retain it until the admission process is over because it may be required again during counselling.
Candidates should verify the reporting information, examination venue and personal details on the admit card before leaving for the centre. As the official schedule identifies Chandigarh as the test city, applicants should rely on the exact venue printed on their own admit card rather than assuming a common campus location.
PU law migration test pattern
The examination will contain 100 objective-type questions carrying one mark each. Candidates will have 90 minutes to complete the paper, and no marks will be deducted for an incorrect response. Separate question papers are prescribed for migration to the third, fifth and seventh semesters.
The syllabus is based on the immediately preceding semesters of Panjab University's five-year integrated law programmes. For example, the third-semester migration paper covers subjects from the first and second semesters, while the fifth- and seventh-semester papers draw from the third-fourth and fifth-sixth semester syllabi respectively. The question paper will be available in English only.
Who is eligible for migration?
Migration is considered only for the third, fifth and seventh semesters of the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.) five-year programmes. A student can seek migration only within the same programme: B.A.LL.B. to B.A.LL.B. or B.Com.LL.B. to B.Com.LL.B.
A student coming from another university or institute must have at least 45% aggregate marks in the preceding year or years and must have cleared all papers already attempted. The prospectus also says migration is subject to declared vacancies and course-equivalence rules. Appearing in or qualifying the entrance test does not by itself guarantee a migration seat.
Vacant seats can change before counselling
The prospectus lists indicative vacancies across UILS Chandigarh, UIL Ludhiana and UILS Hoshiarpur for different semesters. It also warns that the vacancy position may change by the time counselling is conducted. Panjab University may hold a test even for a semester showing no current vacancy because a seat could become available later.
Candidates should therefore treat the entrance score and the later counselling process as separate stages. A place in the merit list creates eligibility for consideration; admission depends on final vacancies, eligibility verification and the rules applied by the institute concerned.
PU law migration result and merit list
Panjab University has scheduled the entrance-test result for November 6. The result will be available at results.puchd.ac.in, and the university will not issue a separate result card. The prospectus sets a minimum entrance-test cutoff of 15% of the aggregate maximum marks for inclusion in the merit process.
The final merit list for migration will be based on the entrance-test result, subject to the university's tie-breaking and eligibility rules. Candidates should monitor the online notice boards of the relevant institute or regional centre for the tentative merit list, objections, counselling dates and document-submission instructions after the result is declared.
