- The infrastructure is quite good and old though the maintenance is top notch, the campus is clean , fresh and huge to walk around .
- The faculty members are quite supportive and listens to our problems with the academic stuffs . Mentor meet is conducted frequently where teachers interacts with students one by one for convenience
- The question paper is based on what teacher teach us. So if we have attended classes pretty well, 90 percent of the question paper would be known to us
- In case of any issues we can easily approach the seniors who often hels us. The college administration centre is also helpful in answering to us .
Dislikes
- The bathroom should be cleaned regularly and should be renovated with proper standards.
- The question paper doesn't have lots of options like Guwahati University thus in the examinations we are left with less options
Remarks :
I chose this university because I am local resident of Guwahati and Cotton University has a rich legacy of being a glorious educational institution since 120 years and has produced top tier graduates and personalities. The university is very affordable, friendly and seniors are quite helpfull towards us The faculty members are also approachable in case of any inconveniences The campus is clean and huge to walk and explore around with food outlets inside the campus The only bad aspect is that , registration works which are conducted online is very inconvenient due to glitches and bugs , thus leading to delay The admission process for our 2023 batch was full CUET , the merit list was prepared based on that Now it is 50 percent CUET and 50 percent Class 12 result ( thus giving us a chance in both of the areas ) Preparation for CUET is to be thorough with NCERT books as it a MCQ conducted exam .
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am from Economics department and our department is quite friendly and approachable. The course is practical and tests our understanding of the concept which we are going to apply in our real life basis . The course is both theoretical with concept understanding and mathematical with applying mathematical tools in economic models All the faculty teachers are highly qualified with PHD degree from USA, IIT, GU etc. It's difficult to get proper notes from teachers but the key concepts and central ideas are helpful in our examinations There are two examinations conducted in a semester, one being mid term of 30 marks of no definite marking scheme while for end term examination we have 70 marks and the marking scheme is 6 questions of 2 marks which is compulsory, 9 questions of 4 marks out of which we have to attempt 7, and lastly 4 question of 10 marks out of which we have to attempt 3. The difficulty level is moderate and direct questions are asked. Difficulty will depend on our prep.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees ranges from 4800 to 5000 INR. It includes all types of fees like library fees, ID card fees, laboratory fees etc. I was from a low income group thus I could avail fee waiver , so my fees ranged from 0-500 INR. Also the low income groups does get ISHAN UDAY scholarship from NSP. The examination fees without practical ranges around 1100 INR and with practical ranges around 1500 INR
Campus Life :
Life at campus is friendly and relaxing. People are friendly and approachable. Cotton university has a rich legacy in cultural activities also offering other activities such as sports with varieties of games , GYM facilities, grounds etc. Library has huge sources of books prescribed in the syllabus which can be easily accessed with name and roll number. Every year there is varsity week consisting of sports and cultural activities during January month . The elections are quite fun to watch . There are different types of clubs running by elected members such as debate, editor, sports , common room etc .

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
