Honest Review of my UG University.
Remarks :
The university has its own brand and renowned reputation all over northeast because of its alumni, some of them who went on to become greater personalities in the history of Assam. It is the top college to pursue a life science degree after IIT GUWAHATI. (My opinion is biased as per my department quality and achievements).
Course Curriculum Overview :
Out of all the science subjects, Chemistry intrigued me the most. All the faculties have exceptional educational background but only some of them had real professor qualities who delivered their subject knowledge to the students with the right intentions. Only two exams per sem- mid-sems of 50 marks and end-sems of 70 marks. It's very important to score well in midsems to get good grades in every paper. Question paper pattern is challenging. You need to be thorough with your basics to solve an organic chemistry paper since questions could be random.
Placement Experience :
During my batch we had two placement offers of Nestlé and Glenmark with a starting fresher package of 25k per month. But mostly students opted for higher studies. Bachelor's and Master's students were eligible to sit for the placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
We had to pay the first semester fees during our admissions which included library and laboratory fees. Per semester was 6.5k since it's a government recognized university. Also I belonged to the covid batch so the university exempted one semester fee for us which was an added bonus for all the students. I was a day scholar so don't know much about hostels but it's a pretty good deal too. Scholarships like DST Inspire, Ishaan Uday and Uni scholarships for students with low income background is also granted. Exam fees is an additional amount to pay two months before end-semester.
Campus Life :
Cultural Fest and sports week are clubbed together under the event of Varsity Week which is a big sensation and adrenaline filled spirit of the youngsters. University participates in district + national level competitions and promising students brings home victory in every field be it sports, theater, literary club, cultural, or academics. Elections and student union is a big part of the University, therefore Cotton College is best for Political Science students too.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

While the college does not guarantee 100% corporate placement, it facilitates campus interviews and internships. Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Tata have rec recruited or offered internships to a percentage of students.
Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.
COLLEGE LIFE

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

I forever had a dream of starting a business by myself as I come from a business background I also wanted to help my father in his work , I wanted to grow my father's business by just putting technical efforts so this is the reason I chooses commerce Teachers are of very friendly nature and helpful If you attend regular college you won't face any difficulties in exams
Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

You must get more than 7 CGPA to sit in the placement. TCS, L&T, Jacobs etc and the highest package is around 21 LPA around 15% are placed every year.Iwill be doing PHd in IIT after getting my degree.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
