Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar was established in 2006 and is a centrally funded institute under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act, of 1860. It is recognized by the UGC and AICTE. CIT Ranking by NIRF was 251st out of 300 engineering colleges in 2021.

CIT Kokrajhar offers BTech as its flagship program. To be eligible for admission, candidates must secure a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in 10+2 and 50% for General and OBC candidates( 45% for SC/ST) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The final selection will be based on the JEE Mains or the CITDEE examination scores. 60% of the seats are for those having qualifying marks in CITDEE and 40% of the seats are offered for those candidates having qualifying marks in JEE Main. The CIT cutoff for JEE Main 2024 for General Category BTech admission ranges from 45771 - 64498 rank. The CIT fee for BTech is INR 1.81 lakhs for all specializations.

CIT Kokrajhar Placement 2023-24 concluded with 59 students getting placed in the BTech department. The highest CTC offered was INR 6.5 LPA and the median CTC recorded was INR 4 LPA. Some of the recruiters were Amul, Pie Infocomm, Corizo Edutech, EdiGlobe, TCS, CDAC Noida, etc.
